CAC ChinaKings Super White Porcelain Square Plate, 8" x3/4"

I chose these initially to use as a dessert plate for serving 2 items at once. I know that white is a very nice way to present food (color can distract from the item.) I didn't want to spend 5 dollars per plate, so I searched and found these. (I posted a picture of assembly of my dessert in the product images.) I especially liked the modern square shape of these. They are equally nice for a salad, or luncheon plate. The rims of these aren't especially steep, but you do lose about an inch of space on each side to place something flat...so the center "well" is about 6x6. You can see the shape in the image I posted.They are very nice. Simple. White. The first set I got had two cracked (in half) plates. I don't think it was the fault of amazon shipping...the item was in original packaging box with cardboard between each one AND an amazon box with paper padding. I contacted them and they sent me a new set overnight and free shipping to return the first set. YAY!I did notice a few had little scratches or maybe a tiny speck of odd glazing, but nothing I wouldn't use or that was noticeable without fine examination. I did manage to crack one the first day. DON'T stack them all up on top of each other...I think the weight of them cracked the bottom one when I did that. It could have had a flaw I didn't see, but think it was the weight. So I am down to 23. No huge deal. They are heavy. Not individually, but it is heavy lifting the entire box.Do check the price though and figure out if the per-plate price is good for you. I ordered these in mid-March (for Easter) and when I came back to type my review, I noticed that they have increased in price by 20%. I don't know if they fluctuate, or I just got lucky. If I didn't know, I would still order these at the higher price. It is difficult to find a big matching set of pretty plates in the 3-4 dollar-each range.

They are thick and durable. But also because of that, they are not as sofisticated/elegant looking. Some of the plates don’t have the even contact points with the surface of the table, so they make clattering noise as you eat. Great for every day use but not for entertaining guests. The package was poorly done and falling apart by the time it arrived, remarkably with only one dish broken. I got a small but fair refund for it because I decided to keep the rest.

First of all: be very careful about the size. Seriously: take a tape measure and look. A 3-inch square is tiny. These plates are good if you want to serve tiny, bite-size canapés, or single servings of chocolate truffles, or similar. Most home cooks will not want to bother with this kind of presentation because it's very labor-intensive.Second: I was not thrilled with the quality. It felt a bit cheap--but at something like 60 cents a plate, what do you expect? The description says the plates are "super white." I thought they had a bit of a grey cast, personally--but that might be my own pickiness--I wanted a bright, clean white.I will say, though, that the plates came neatly packed into a small (and surprisingly heavy) cardboard box, and nothing was broken. I will be returning the plates, though, because the quality was bit off.

Perfect size for my bbq steaks. There is what it looks like a manufacturing imprint in the center, but not very visible. The porcelain coating is nice and smooth. Reason for 4 stars, is because 2 plates came with couple of very small brown spots on the edges, but amazon came through and offered a replacement or credit!

I was looking to replace our 10.5" square plates with smaller ~9" plates, as visually it helps obfuscate the eating less effort. These took a very long time to arrive as they were out of stock, but amazon was helpful notifying me as soon as they were back in stock and their ETA. These don't match the white color exactly of my other white square plates, they are more grey white, but look very nice stacked in any case. And these serve their purpose perfectly - a reasonably sized dinner plate!

A xmas gift for my daughter in law arrived with one broken plate. Wish I could get one replacement without having to return the whole set which weighs about 40 lbs. Otherwise pretty much flawless; but as good as it is I would have to think twice about ordering a porcelain set online again. I'll never get over the 11 plate set for a party of 12.

The packaging was torn alittle but could not have caused the scratches on the dishes. Every plate has at least one scratch on it. ALL plates are damaged which is not acceptable. These plates must be second handto look that way. I really liked the dishes but not for that much money.
