Barn Cat (Gemma Open Door)

A succinctly written story of a woman who returns to her childhood home to join her sister in a search for their missing mother. Wonderful tone in this story as told by an honest narrator.

The writing is wonderful and the story, characters and ending are excellent.Looking forward to reading the other books by this author.

A missing mother brings the main character together with her stepsister back to the small Wisconsin town of their childhoods. As always, Mori shows us crystal clear images of places that you feel you'd know if you saw them. The mystery of others' reactions and the stories we tell ourselves about the past are central in this quiet, precise story. I found it was over too soon.
