Sturdy
Cheaper than the big name and works great. I use it to spot hop faster and have had no problems. So far my max speed has been ~40-45mph and never budged. Goes on easy and comes right off when you want it too

Easy to use once you figure out how to use ...
Problem: long steelhead fishing poles-6 or 7 fishing holes to check out -lines getting tangled from breaking poles down to fit in the canopy covered truck bed.. Solution: 2 external Vac Rac Magnetic Rod holders. Easy to use once you figure out how to use the rubber bands that hold the poles-no instructions-you are on your own. Once you figure out how to use the rubber bands it becomes quick and easy to fasten and unfasten your poles. Holds them securely.

Failed in high temperature
Work well.Nicely designed and well made. We've just had temperatures around 105f, the glue that sticks the foam to the bar failed. This is a common temperature here so I expect it not to fail.Considering returning them.

A good product with some caveats
I’ve had mine for a couple seasons now. First season I unmounted them after each use, and they worked awesome. The good news is THEY WILL STAY ON—never had a problem with that even at 85 mph. Second season I left them on all season...that did not work out so well. The foam cushion on each bar was the first thing to come off—though, that is easily replaced. However, taking them off at season’s end was a PITA. It just would not release...it had adhered to the paint. I had to use acetone to remove the pad and the process destroyed the racks. So, I will certainly say they are awesome for short periods of use. If used this way, they will last many seasons, but I’ll add the caveats: Expect to replace the foam on the bars, and do not leave these on long term unless you want them permanently affixed.

Save the Rod tip!
I had this rooftop carrier for 20 years until it mysteriously disappeared from my fishing travel bag (thanks @TSA) so immediately replaced it. This is an essential piece of gear. It is easy to travel with and goes directly on the roof of the rental. Your delicate fly rods will appreciate being securely riding on the roof rather than bouncing around inside the vehicle.

Rod Rack holds tight
Over the last three or four years, I have probably broken two tips rattling around in the back of my pickup truck. In addition, when fishing from place to place, it's a real hassle to reassemble the rod, attach the reel, and thread the line at each stop. It subtracts from the overall quality of the experience and the amount of fishing time available. After doing a little bit of research, it looked like this product was the best at the cheapest price. But, would it hold? I took a risk and spent the money. When it arrived I discovered it worked primarily by magnetic attachment. No biggie... until I was stunned to discover that my 2001 Ranger did not have a metal hood. Who would've thought that a 10-year-old truck would be made mostly out of some other material than metal? Geez... it's a truck! After some desperate trial and error, I discovered that the roof was metal and that the rack gripped tightly to it. Now the scary part... Would the rod fly off in use?I wanted to fish several different spots on the the Savage River in Maryland and would drive and stop in multiple places. With a deep breath, I assembled an old fly rod (I did not want to risk a good one) and popped on a reel.I am happy to report that there were no issues with this model running at 55 mph in a periodic downpour. The rod was in the rack for approximately 3 hours as I drove from place to place and I did not remove it until I was ready for the long haul home.I did a few things to stack the deck in my favor. I used the hook keeper and tightened the line down to put pressure on the rod tip to make sure the sections would not wiggle free as the wind pushed to the rear. Then, to hold everything in place, I cranked down on the drag to keep the reel from moving and unspooling line.Nary a problem. I will trust this to my good gear in the future! BUT! Before you buy it, make sure you have a metal section of your vehicle to attach it!

Great for cars
I live in Florida and HATE two piece fishing rods. I also don't have a truck, I drive a Lexus. This little wonder allows me to transport my rods outside the car, without marking the finish of the car. The bottoms are rubberized and leave no marks. When you remove them you are supposed to place the bottoms together for storage. When I do this my 14 year old son can not separate the two so this should give you a good idea of how strong the magnets are. However, when you grab the built in tab you can easily peel it off of your car. They are made well and easy to use although the bungees can be tight (Which I consider a good thing).I regularly drive at speeds of up to 70 MPH with 4 rods on the car using these holders without any movement or and appearance as if I were about the lose the rods. More than this I can not go fishing here in Florida without some other angler asking "Where did you get those? What a great idea!"My highest recommendation.

Work Very Well... wish they were rectangular vs. square
Haha I bought these to secure Reindeer antlers to my new 2013 FORD CMAX Energi. The magnets work just be prepared to learn that lots of areas on light vehicles are not magnetic! Also... since the magnetic area on my hood area is the narrow outer frame I knew only the center area was bonded... still met my need :-)
