Convient desktop accessory; really needs add-on power supply
I purchased this small USB 3.x hub to bring some USB ports to the front of my small PC, so that I do not have to scrabble about on its back face to swap out USB peripherals. Its design and style make it a useful, unobtrusive desktop convenience. It is delivered with the the necessary, heavy-weight cable, which has the required two-part flat USB 3.x connector. What it lacks is an included auxiliary power supply; a single USB 3.x PC port simply can't supply enough current for four moderately power-hungry peripherals. After some searching I was able to purchase the necessary power adapter with a 4-amp output but the cost effectively doubled the price of the adapter. Also note that some peripherals (e.g., external solid-state drive) may require direct connection to a PC and will not work well or at all through a hub. Nice little device in some ways, but limited in others. Consider your needs well before buying.

Decent
Not as "high quality" as I expected from Sabrent. After opening it up it's relatively basic. I like the look and feel of it, and it works, so I can't complain too much. Besides the stupid bright LED I didn't know existed and WHY it exists. It stays on even when your computer is powered off lighting up the entire room. I took it apart and luckily it's a 2-pin JST connector you can simply unplug. Anyone can do it - two screws behind the rubber at the bottom. See pictures.

Almost Exactly What I Hoped For
Addressing the short cable first - yeah it's pretty short, but the way I have my desk set up, it's the perfect length from my laptop to where I wanted it placed on my desk. I dock my laptops and then use a monitor as my display. It was getting really annoying having to move my monitor out and in to plug / unplug USB devices. Now I have a ton of additional ports right in front of me!My only wish is that the item itself didn't light up when it was in use and that it be a bit heavier. It's somewhat on the light side so the cable tends to move the base around really easily. It's not a huge issue but when you're OCD and need things "just right" it might drive you crazy.

Perfect fit, finish and function. Excellent quality.
I purchased this based on reviews, I thought with almost 6,000 reviews this must be a decent product. Also because of the build quality, materials etc, all aluminum, the design is excellent and the fact that it could be powered is an absolute necessity. One important feature is that the plugs are in the back, out of the way and convenient. Another is the fact that it works flawlessly unplugged or plugged into external power supply, there was no difference. Sabrent sells this unit without the power supply but offers their own power supply sold separately. Some negative reviews were by individuals who said it wouldn't power their hard drives. Thats to be expected, more than one hard drive would need power I'm sure. I purchased this unit to be used with bolt connectors, keyboards and mice. I first plugged everything in and connected it to power. Functioned flawlessly. The next day I forgot to turn on the power (My power supply switchable) it still functioned flawlessly. I bought this dock because my $400. desktop docking station had issues with my Logitech Bolt USB receivers, keyboards This Sabrent dock is very inexpensive and very high quality. I'm ordering another! Using it right now to write this review with a Logitech bolt and keyboard. Perfect fit, finish and function.

BEWARE SHORT CABLE
If you’re buying this to cable manage your PC setup, be aware that the cable will only reach if your tower is next to your monitor, it is a short cable.Nonetheless great quality on both the cable AND the hub, and definitely way better that any other non brand USB hubs on Amazon

Daher 2 Sterne Abzug.

Seems like good quality but....
Pros:Study design (I think you could hit this with a brick and the brick would come out worse off).Plug and play.LED light on front makes plugging things in in the dark much easier.Cons:usb ports are so tight i have to use full force to plug in any devices. This obviously makes me quite nervous when dealing with high end USB devices.Has the ability to take a power supply (PS-5V4W-sold seperately) suggesting that a power supply is needed for full operation. (take this with a pinch of salt as i can not confirm)The USB cable included is a micro-usb3.0 to USB 3. Would have been far better as USB3 to C or C to CIncluded cable is ludicrously short (I'm guessing 60cm-ish?) unless your having this next to a laptop almost centainly too short.LED light on front, although also be a Pro wont switch off when your PC is switched off meaning that it is constantly drawing power even when not in use (this can be fixed in your PCs Bios but at the cost of disabling other features on your PC). aka, now power efficient.Made in china.Despite all of that, it is cheap and sturdy and does the job (so far). Will update if it burns out.

Too difficult to plug in USB cables
I like the idea of a USB Hub with 4 sockets on my desktop. The hub itself is made with solid feeling aluminium, and the rubber base is a nice touch to stop it moving around my desk. It looks good, and fits in with the aluminium materials used to make modern iMacs and MacBooks....BUT...The blue plastic tongue inside each of the USB sockets seems to be a bit too large. It is difficult to plug in almost all of my USB cables. At first I thought that I was just not used to plugging into a socket that is placed at an angle, and I was not lining up my cable correctly. But even after a few goes I still find it difficult to plug in (and unplug) cables. Maybe the manufacturer could file down the edges of the blue plastic to make a bevel, or they could make the tongues trapezoidal, or they could be made out of softer plastic.

Premium look & quality well worth the price
Honestly, I expected basic product in nice alu case, while in the end I've got so much more.Hub's design is exactly what a premium product should look like: extremely precise cuts and much attention to detail, highest quality materials, sturdy and solid look. This hub will look great even with the most expensive computers. A little shame that Sabrent used micro USB 3.0 in it, while USB-B 3.0 would give the socket a bit more mechanical durability in the long run.Thick and a bit stiff connection cable (stable power & less data interference) will attract the enthusiasts while annoy the casuals.Sockets with 45 degree angle are the perfect choice: plugging and unplugging devices is as effortless as possible.Overall: I picked mine to plug into an older type of LED TV and it works like a charm. More than that, it looks so great that two women around the house are calling it an attractive & handy accessory. For me it's enough to call it the perfect hub for any USB device. The price may be discouraging, but it's as usual with premium products - You're paying for one-of-the-kind, great looking design.Protip: there is a problem with getting an original power adapter by Sabrent so if You plan on plugging power hungry devices (big external hard drives etc.), let me help. You're looking for any 5V adapter with minimum 2,7A current and 3,5 x 1,35mm jack plug. Like this one for example: 5V 3A 3.0A 3000mA AC-DC Switching Adaptor Power Supply Plug 3.5mmx1.3mm 3.5x1.35V 3A 3.0A 3000mA AC-DC Switching Adaptor Power Supply Plug 3.5mmx1.3mm 3.5x1.3

USB 4.0 Hub - Powered/Not Powered
Used as a USB extension lead connected to a Raspberry Pi 4Now my SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle is distant from the Pi and free from interference.Depending on the USB device attached, works without an additional power supply, a 2.5mm 5v DC power supply socket is also present.( Why not a micro USB B or C socket ?)The spacing of the USB sockets are sufficient for larger USB plugs, a problem on the PiFor me has an annoying LED light
