Absolutely worth its cost.
This is a nice small knife, the blade being a little less than 4 inches, with a sharpened edge of about 3 1/2 inches. The blade is a full 4 mm in thickness, which should translate into a decent amount of strength. Fairly sharp out of the package, and sharpened up nicely with my Rada. It is 420J2 stainless. Which means what? I don't know, altho I have seen some more expensive knives made of that particular type of steel. It shouldn't really matter because this is a small knife and will be used for small tasks, not heavy bushcrafty work. It is full tang and has a respectable weight. The big finger choil is nice. The micarta scales have deep grooves and pointy edges and tips--think of the projections on a crocodile's back. Not exactly uncomfortable, but not a joy to handle, either. I am impressed with the general fit and finish--it is very nicely constructed. The kydex sheath is rather odd--impressions on the two sides show the knife being inserted from both right and left but it seems to fit better one way than the other. And it's a tight fit, so I tried to adjust the tightness with heat and because the kydex is so thin, ended up ruining the thing. Small loss, tho, since I had an older Gerber sheath that this knife fits nicely into. To sum up, this little knife is definitely worth its cost. I may order another one and not mess around with the kydex sheath on that one!5-23-15...Ok, did a little research and learned that 420J2 steel, when given the proper heat treatment, is a fine material for a knife and other edged tools. Many well-known knife makers use it. This means the Alfa Benetti Skinner Knife is a great value at $12.
