At around thirty quid, these are good!
This is a fine little uke with a slightly wider than usual neck that plays pretty well. It is usually sold at around thirty quid post paid which represents fair value. The price has wobbled a bit over the years...We like these at the right price, and bought several of them for friends and family, who like them too.So should these suddenly become expensive again, a search for the MK1PWTBK (black) and the MK1PWTBR (brown) should find you one at around thirty quid if you fancy a ukulele like this. I really like them, hope you do too!

Great for beginners & people with big hands (Wide Neck Uke)
1st off, the price is about right for the Wide Neck Uke I purchased (around £30), the quality of sound produced is amazing, with a lovely resonance & tone.It is light in weight, colour is sort of a dark creamy brown. The gig bag, is very basic, this is fine for carrying from A to B, but it’s not padded, so not the best in the world, but a cheap padded case is less than £10 if needed.I have big hands, & a standard soprano was too small to finger fret, but the wide neck is perfect.Downside to this Uke is the wood quality/finish is not perfect, it’s basic, not a premium, so don’t expect flawless wood grain of much higher priced Ukes. The quality of this Uke comes from its sound when tuned & playing.I would put this in the medium/higher bracket of beginner Ukulele cost bracket, but don’t go for cheaper plastic ukuleles, try before you buy if you can, & use a tuner app on your mobile phone to set the musician inside you free to play great from day one.

Great playing and sounding ukulele.
These are great ukuleles. The wide neck is so comfortable (1.5" at nut) and makes playing easy and still get the traditional look and sound of a soprano ukulele.I've read reviews of tuning and buzzing issues. Those reviews were several years old. I guess Mahalo got it together as I've ordered 2 and both came with a great setup. Low string height and no fret buzz at all. I ordered 1 and then ordered a backup. The 2nd that came is a little different. The sound hole is much smaller on the 1st order and the bridge has pearl dot inlays. I also noticed the wood/body seems much thinner on the 1st one. The sound hole labels are different too. The 2nd ordered has a higher serial number so maybe a newer batch with changes. The first one sounds a little brighter and not as much volume. Its really not that noticeable. Could be because of the wood thickness?I added 1/8 pearl sticker dots and installed graph tech tunelele tuners to give that friction tuners look to the 1st order. And a stitch ukulele decal to the back. Love these ukuleles. I plan to add inlay sticker dots to the newer one and planetary tuners. Might play around with different strings or a low G string on one.If you struggle with smaller necks/nut width, give this one a try.
