An excellent kit.
I've been building GunPla kits since I was seven, and with 13 years of experience, I finally decided to purchase a Master Grade kit. What's really unique about this kit is the option to build a damaged Gundam without needing to modify parts. (IE cutting them with a power router)Where to even begin. It immediately takes a step beyond any other kit I've assembled. The index finger and thumb on both hands are independent of the rest on rotating ball joints, so you don't need to disassemble the hands to have it equip the beam sabers or any of the other weapons. It has parts that slide when you bend the knees and elbows to look like moving pistons, and it lights up. It has far more parts and detail incorporated into it than high grade models, so be ready. Also, it has 2 sheets of Dry-Transfer Decals in addition to a sheet of sticker decals. If you're not familiar with how to transfer decals, make sure you watch a video on youtube. Remember, these are DRY-transfer, not water-slide.Some build stages are tricky:Assembling the LEDs can be difficult, as you need a screwdriver of the proper size. If you tighten them too much, you won't be able to easily put new batteries in, if you don't tighten it enough, the batteries won't transfer enough current to the LEDs. It's finicky, and I spent an entire night making sure I got it perfect so it worked every time.I recommend purchasing a set of backup Green Gundam LED assemblies for about 10$ just in case you are unable to loosen the screws at a later date.Several pieces are flexible plastic which are sandwhiched between two other parts. These plastic pieces stick out and bend around to the shoulder. This is probably the hardest assembly stage in the entire kit. These parts are not shown in the preview images or in the previews on the kit box or instruction manual. It does not come with a stand. Very few kits do, those that include stands usually are kits that cannot stand on their own. Exia Avalanche, Perfect Grade Unicorn, etc. It comes with the adapter for a normal gundam model stand, but you'll have to purchase a stand separately. The translucent green stand works best for this model, due to the coloring of the LEDs.Differences from the preview images:They don't show the translucent parts that bend near the shoulders, the trickiest stage of the entire build. The cape comes in a glossy black, not a matte brown. They did not apply any of the decals in the preview images other than the standard stickers.Materials required to build this kit:Hobby Knife: for cutting out parts and removing runner nubsSide cutter shears: for removing parts properly from runners. (You can just use a hobby knife)Maxell LR41 batteries for the LEDs. You'll need 4 batteries, 2 per LED.A small screwdriver. (Philips head)The following are all optional for making your kit stand out from a normal GunPla kit, and truly making it look like a professional model.Matte Brown Paint: The cape comes in a glossy black, painting it is optional.Sand Paper: For removing runner nubs and getting a nicer final productGundam markers: for painting panel linesWeathering marker: for wearing areas near engines or damaged areasValue for price: 5/5 (Provided you're getting it on sale for $50-70.)Build Difficulty: 3.5/5 (Due to the several difficult spots during the build.)I custom paint all of the details on my models, but your end result will look about the same as the picture except for the cape color.*UPDATE* This kit uses the ACTION BASE 1 if you're going to buy a stand for it. It has a custom adapter that only works with the Action Base 1. Do not buy a different stand by mistake. I did by accident, without doing my research ahead of time. Luckily I had other kits I could use the stand for.

My first Gundam
This is my first gundam kit I have ever built. I was intimidated because I know MGs have more parts therefore more complex but I really wanted to give it a shot. The manual for the most part is easy to understand even though I don't know Japanese, looking at the pictures was enough. The trays included in this kit look very good right out of the box and after three nights I completed my Exia. I am very pleased with the result. The green parts just look amazing on this kit and I love how the clear parts help give it some depth. The joints all feel very strong so it can hold poses very well, especially with the big GN sword attached. The weapons on the Exia is what made me get this kit as my first. I love the seven swords it carries and I really like that the GN blade has a hidden blaster in it as well. What I read the difference between this Exia Ignition mode and Regular Exia is, is that Ignition mode gives you parts to build the Repair Exia from (SPOILERS) season two of 00 in the first episode. That was one reason why I choose this kit over the regular Exia. A couple of others would be that Ignition also brings two LED lights for the GN drive that aren't included with the other kit. The last thing I know is that Ignition has a nicely painted chrome plate for the weapons. The chrome plate has pieces for the GN sword, the blaster in the GN sword, the two smaller GN blades and for the GN drive. I absolutely love the Chrome pieces. It really makes the weapons stand out for example, the blaster is small so it might not show without the chrome but because it's there you see it immediately. This is also a big plus to people who don't paint their kits since the regular Exia will not have chrome weapons in the box. There are many positives to this kit so I highly recommend it. As for any negatives I honestly can't think of any. That is not to say that there aren't any but I haven't run into any yet. I haven't built the GN drive yet but from what I hear they can be a little sensitive because of the way the LED's are designed. I will start them tomorrow when my girlfriend returns my tool kit since she just finished Deathscythe EW Hell custom which is also another recommended kit.

First-Time Gundam Build
Disclaimer: I am an experienced modeler, but this is the first Gundam kit I've ever attempted. So I have very limited experience on how this kit compares to other kits. This is an excellent kit. The pieces all fit together snugly and the model holds its poses very well. The sheer number of weapons it has at its disposal, and the option to build it in Repair mode means it likely will never get old either. This is one of the "unique" Gundam primaries and I love the way it looks. The transparent pieces give the model so much depth and a more "high-tech" feel than some of the other gundam models. My previous experience with models gave me a profound appreciation for how well the model fits together, how complicated the dynamics are, and how impressive it is that none of the pieces require glue.Ignition mode adds the LED kit, the components to build the Exia Repair, and chrome plated pieces for the weapons. I have not used the LED's yet (batteries are in the mail), but I mainly bought this kit for the chrome and Repair anyways. A heavily damaged Gundam isn't something you get to see very often and having the pieces to build it that way is exciting to me.To make the Repair you'll have to disassemble quite a bit of the model, which is fun to me, but may not be for everyone. The Repair cloth covering the shoulder comes Black in color, so you'll have to paint it in order to make it look right.I didn't spend much time eliminating imperfections. I used a razor, file, and sandpaper to remove all flash from the pieces and some of the obvious mold lines. The first assembly took me about 6-7 hours, in small segments of 10-15 minutes here and there over a few days.
