What Are We Fighting For?: Poems About War
R**R
Useful new collection of war poems for children
This book would be an asset to any family or school which wants their children to think deeper about the meaning of war, the impact of war, the emotions of war. It covers the feelings of soldiers, loved ones left behind, animals, black fighters from the US still suffering prejudice and more. Very accessible, moving and important. Probably best suited to upper primary, some poems are longer with more to delve into and some are short enough to read over a short session (registration, say). Recommended.

Used for teaching in primary school- don’t bother
Really disappointed with this book. Bought it to supplement war unit. Poems quite basic and as the children in my class highlighted- they could write better.
