The Chambers Dictionary (13th Edition): The English dictionary of choice for writers, crossword setters and word lovers

My Chamber's 20th Century Dictionary of 1961 had only 1387 smaller size pages. It has become a heritage collection and so shelved.This 13th edition has larger page size and more than 500 extra pages. So it is quite up to date and good for regular reference.Binding is very good. The book spine does not lose shape as some other buyer had complained. I checked page by page to check for any missing pages. No pages missing - as was complained by another buyer.

Chambers dictionary is a complete dictionary for advanced studies. Very good definitions and examples are given for head words. Pronunciation is given for all words. Letters are small , words are rich. Paper is thin but good..Printing is also very good.Binding is sturdy and good. All right as per the description.

The book stands true to every phrase that I read in its description.I am doing my research work at present and I hope it will be of great help in boosting up my writing skills by equipping me up with the magic wand of scintillating words.One word of caution and advice to those who have not been cultured,-as I myself have been,-in some fundamental dictionaries like the 'Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary of Current Usage',-that here,in the pages of this dictionary,they will have no schooling in the use of words in sentences,and unless they have mastered this art,the ingratiating premises of this Academia will seldom be balmy to them!

Really heavy, so a bit difficult to handle, and spine gets out of alignment with continuous use. Needs an accompanying reading stand really! I wish there was an online version of the same, would be so much easier

I didn't go through it because I bought three from Amazon as gifts to my student ,my brother's son&sister-in-law's son.But I am using an Indian edition of Chambers,which is immensely.useful.Your product met my expectation.God bless your service.

The best one since my school days 1982, I was 15 then, my dad purchased one 1965 edition and I still have that, and purchased this one 2017.

I have been regularly using the title since 1966 (CTCD). For quite a long time I have been unsuccessfully frantically trying to get it from open market. My efforts to get it from INDIAN publishers also were in vain as they have stopped its publication. To this extent I am really grateful to you. Will you be graceful enough to let me know whether it is an Indian edition or a foreign one.

I recently read an Inspector Morse novel in which he mentioned the Chambers Dictionary as his go to dictionary. Well, being a long time dictionary fan, I decided to get a second hand edition. I paid $8 and I love this dictionary. So much so that I had to buy this new latest edition. This is a great dictionary.

I bought this dictionary to help me check or find words when doing cryptic crosswords. It has been most useful.

Dictionnaire en très bon état. Il manque toutefois 4 pages entre les pages 680 et 689, je pense que c'est un problème lié à l'imprimerie, car les pages ne sont pas arrachées.
