Not quite Sun Tzu' art of war - an okay read
Not quite what I expected - not exactly Sun Tzu' art of war - an okay read - not what I had envisioned to inspire young women in the workplace.

Excellent
The art of war has been my latest interest in books and this book is so good intepretation and explanation of it. It could easily apply to men though. I have read lots of Art of war books and I can confidently say this was a page turner.

Good book and good career self help advice for both Women and Men
I have been interested in the Art of War for a long time. I read many versions, and even watched a video version. Some are good and some are really confusing, many are in between. Then I borrowed an audio version of this book The Art of War for Women. I got to it last because I am a ...guy - truly :).I like what I hear so much, I bought a printed version so I can highlight what I want to read again. Some comment writers are right. This book is based on the Art of War by Sun Tzu as interpreted or rather seen through Chin-ning Chu's lens. I don't think it is bad necessarily. I like it because it was written for people who are not aggressive, building-consensus style, non-confrontational, taking-care of others first kind of people - Men or Women.Having read many versions of the Art of War by (translated) Sun Tzu, I believe that this version still preserves the essence of Taoism meant by Sun Tzu. Yet, it has been interpreted by a wise woman and from a woman's point of view with liberal number of career advice/interpretation. I saw my weaknesses and mistakes in this book. And I felt it's worth the time reading this book so I can do something about improving myself, as a man.If you are a man, do not let the title stop you. As human, we are a complex creature, and no one can define exactly what a man is like or what a woman is like, *politically*. If you skip over pages that clearly meant to cater to women readers, you still can derive values in the essence of Ms. Chu's writings.Happy reading.

Excellent Analysis of Sun Tzu
Anyone that knows the original writing's of Sun Tzu will tell you that you really need to read and re read the text several times and take into context other writings of the period to be able to truly understand relate it to our modern environment. Many scholars say that this was done by Sun Tzu on purpose so if it ever fell into enemy hands it would be somewhat confusing. This particular rendition does a thoughtful analysis and brings to light the true message behind that Sun Tzu was trying to say. It take the mystery out of the text and reveals the common sense intellectual approach that Sun Tzu brought to conflict! If you have been baffled confused or curious about the original Art of War text read or get this rendition on Ipod I have been reading art of war for 25 yrs and this was the all time best at getting across the true message. I loved that I have been reading this text for many years and still garnered new insights and genius from this new rendition.

Great book for women working with women
Chin-Ning Chu has taken a critical problem for working women and delivered a solution in a manner that is easy to understand and performed. There are several books on the markets for women working with women, there are several conferences you could attend, but this book as well as her Working Women book has taken all of the necessary knowledge needed and compacted it into a book that can be referenced over and over again.

Required reading
Chin-Ning Chu did a fantastic job paralleling the work environment to war. She has many great advice to help maneuver complexities at work, such as when to persist and when to let go. I especially liked the chapter on espionage because in war, it can mean life or death of people and in the corporate world, the life or death of the organization. It's very important to protect intellectual property for the sake of American security.

A little cheesy, but the author is a strong woman with a lot of career advice. I also like how she has translated The Art of War into the modern workplace.

Great cliff note version of the ancient Art of War book
I tried reading the original Art of War a few times and found it boring and frustrating to try to make modern sense of ancient thoughts. This book delivered in clarifying the original book and framing the ideas for women and the challenges that we face. One aspect that was distracting were the numerous grammar and spelling errors in the electronic version. This weakness lended the book less credibility for me.

Liking the book
To get back into reading...I haven't finished reading it but it's basic common sense on how to use your skills to better yourself not only professionally but personally as well. I was recommend by a male to read this book and so far, I am impressed.

Grammar mistakes
Art of war is an amazing book, the 3 stars is for all the typos and bad grammar! But the book is a good read, and money was not a waste, I learned from it!

I wish I had owned this book years ago. I am a very open person, and naively think that hostile people can be won over with inclusiveness and care. Not so! This book gives strong advice for the (office) politically naive.
