The Holy Bible: Revised Standard Version, Black Bonded Leather Catholic Edition

For many Catholics the Douay Rheims Bible has become hard to read because the language is that of the 16th century! Therefore the Revised Standard Version (Catholic Edition) is often recommended to Catholics as an alternative. This version, however, is an "authorised revision of the American Standard Version, published in 1901, which was a revison of the PROTESTANT King James Version, published in 1611". But why not read THE CATHOLIC Revision of the Douay Rheims published by the "CONFRATERNITY of Christian Doctrine? The New Testament has been published in 1941 and is faithful to the Vulgate. I had been looking for a Catholic Bible that I could easily read and hold and which was not rigid. This Bible is perfect for me and I would recommend it to anybody.

A thoroughly orthodox Catholic Bible with so much to commend it. The large print is good for my eyesight (though not a deal breaker). Our Lord's words in red. Three ribbons. The maps, stained glass pictures. And the faith fact inserts. Topical index, explanatory notes. I'm in my first year of Seminary and find this (among other translations) indispensable. So glad I have this Bible.
