TektroM 530 V-Brake

I'd never fitted brakes for a bike previously, and needed to go through the instructions to get the steps right. I still managed to go wrong and needed to reverse several steps to get to where I should have gone all along. Suffice to say that sometimes, if you get an early step wrong and find out two steps later, these might take a while to fit! In my case it's the spring that is used to return the caliper to the right position and needs to fit around the brake in a particular way. It's actually referenced in the small print prior to the first diagram, too trivial to warrant an entire picture to itself, and although I thought I'd got it right, I hadn't. Before you wonder, I used to write manuals as part of my design work and learned never to assume that readers knew what I knew, in other words never presume on others' experience.There's no trivial step in putting new brakes on a device that could cause you harm if the brakes are in some way wrongly assembled. Something that took me almost 2 hours to do might only take 15 minutes in future, thanks to experience. No thanks to the instructions!When significant steps are buried in the text it suggests that the instructions would work better as a bulletpoint list where every bulletpoint is a significant step. Live & learn, I guess, at least without very clear instructions.But as I said up top, the brakes themselves are fine and have been doing their job very well. Let's hope a/ they carry on that way and b/ I don't have to repeat the exercise anytime soon!

Well boxed and presented. Decent instructions to follow and all parts that are needed are included eg, 2 different length bolts for each side, cable guide, brake blocks etc. Not cheap but very happy with the quality and the purchase. They are for stopping the bike after all!
