Great product to have if you plan to install your own laminate counter tops
This shears is a great tool when trying to work with laminate. I used it to cut laminate for my countertops. worked well. Keep in mind you will loose about a 1/4 inch of laminate. cuts very cleanly (I used painters tape to ensure edges around the cut stayed intact. Make cutting very easy even over long stretches of laminate product (one of my laminate pieces was 12 feet long). You do have to stop along the cut and remove 1/4 inch strip to make cutting go smoother.

Better than a scoring tool.
Took me a few times to catch on, these are awesome. But, pay attention to what side of the line your cutting on, they are like a hole punch and leave about an 1/8 of material on the floor, like a hole punch does. Leaves a very clean cut on both sides. I like them more than a scoring tool that can destroy the material if it does not snap off right. Been there, done that. Very sharp, once you understand them, they are like a pair of scissors, but you will lose 1/8 of material in their use, so no super close cuts between patterns.

good laminate cutters
Cuts laminate better than tin snips. Does a nice job with very little chipping of edges. When cutting make the cut about 90% then release and push forward and cut about 90% again. In this manner you will have a complete roll of cut, expelled material when finished. If you make each cut all the way you get little pieces of laminate each time that tend to accumulate in the tool and make it harder to cut.

Perfect for cutting laminate before routing!
I don't know what I would have done if I had not found and purchased these cutters! It was necessary for me to rough cut a 12' foot by 4' laminate to an approximate 3' width. Initially I tried to cut the lengthy sheet with a sabre saw with a laminate blade and also with a table saw with a blade suited for laminate. Both methods proved to be unsuccessful and appeared to possibly damage the laminate! I then used these shears on 12 foot laminate and although it was a slow process, the length cut was sharp and not damaging to the laminate. I also used the shears for scrolled patterns along the formica and I was very pleased with the finished project! The shears give a wide cut but if you keep one side of the blade on your scribed line it is perfect lined cut!

Awesome tool for laminate
Having used these in the past, at a previous job, I thought they might come in handy for an upcoming laminate job. With this being the first job that this pair was used on, they were very sharp and cut the laminate like a dream! I did not have a table saw at this location and was not looking forward to cutting strips for edgebanding and I was also going to have to notch around some walls for a pass through location. These worked like a charm and made short work of notching as well as cutting the strips for edgebanding. My hand didn't even really get tired, nor did I feel like Popeye when I got done with all of the cutting. (I'm a little sad about the Popeye thing) If you have some laminate work and won't have a tablesaw to cut strips or have to do some intricate notching or scribing, get these shears. They are worth far more than they cost. You will not be sorry!

Avoid these cutters! They break expensive laminate
I ordered these to cut laminate for a countertop. They break the material. Three different experienced finish carpenters tried to use them and they ruin the material if you are trying to make a reasonably close cut. They are difficult to use in tight places and are generally garbage. A shear head cutter for an oscillating tool is a much better, faster method to use. Avoid buying these shears at all costs! Plus this seller rips you off for a 20% restock fee. Don't buy these!!!

The perfect tool for the job.
I needed two 67” X 6” cleanly cut strips of Formica from 4’ X 8’ stock. These sheers performed amazingly well. They require very little force (easy on my carpel tunnel syndrome), and cut extremely cleanly. Like the reviews say, cut from the top. Also, many reviews complained about having to remove the 1 X 1/8-inch plug generated by each snip, but there’s a simple fix for that; DON’T CUT THE FULL INCH, cut in short ½ to ¾ inch progressions and simply let the kerf made by the sheers curl up under the project. There is no need to stop and remove the debris from each snip, just cut slowly and smoothly. It took me less than 2 minutes for each 67” run.
