I have had several older dogs and these keep their teeth clean and though I cannot give physician opinion but as a dog owner I have avoided expensive medical teeth cleaning. My dogs have always been older adopted pets so anesthesia could be harmful and expensive. My vet always comments on my senior dogs teeth health from these chews. Plus the dogs think they're delicious.

The only problem is they don't last long enough. My 11 lb. Maltipoo can finish one off in less than 30 minutes. He's a pretty aggressive chewer. I wish they lasted longer like a bully stick.I like that they don't flake off or break. They don't smell. Would be easy to travel with.

My 8 year old dog just had oral surgery and his teeth cleaned. The vet said to get dental chews but they have to have the VOHC on the package. My dog isn't treat motivated so I thought I would try with not much hope. He loves them and I even catch him stealing his little brothers. Next vet exam will tell if they work, but the dogs love them and they aren't that expensive. No green mess or minty smell.
