Tom and Jerry for the 3rd Millenium
I think this cartoon series is one of the funniest ever on TV.Basically Tom and Jerry updated - gentle blue cat is tortured and tormented by cockroaches, and runs around the house trying to catch them. The humour is based almost totally around comic violence (lots of dynamite, slipping on rollerskates/banana skins, standing on rakes etc), and every now and then justice is done to the cockroaches. If you like your slapstick, you will love this.In best silent film tradition, there is no speech or language barrier. (Top tip - compare price with French Amazon site if you were paying attention at school) No ill-fitting or annoying voices or crass dialogue - just the nitty gritty of (for example) how to blow Oggy up whilst he is on the toilet. You have to be pretty inventive to keep making that funny. It also has an easy-to-watch consistency of thread - there are no surreal asides, or plot jumps, and there is conspicuous lack of effort to make this radical or edgy or 'out there'. It is also well drawn. Compare and contrast to almost every other cartoon series of the last 15 years. There is a laugh-out-loud moment in every episode - for me the pick of these is when the cockroaches find a way into Cousin Jack's head and take control of his body. I nearly died. The Mary Whitehouse in me will tell you that this is not entirely suitable for very young children - but even then, much of the violence is implied rather than explicit - you don't actually see the cockroaches being blown up by the chip fryer, or Cousin Jack having his face ground with a pepper grinder, or Oggy's face being lasered in the CD player. Perhaps that is also what helps make it so funny40 episodes and 3 hours or so of Top, top entertainmentThe only negative I can think of is that series 2 is even better.

Addicted to Oggy
I am ADDICTED to OGGY.The best TV habit i've had for years has been watching the Oggy omnibus of six episodes between 9-10 pm on POP channel. I would laugh myself out of my wheelchair, (i'm not joking about the wheelchair... no really!).
