I’m so happy that Mill Creek finally decided to release this classic Dana Carvey film on Blu-Ray. I basically wore my VHS copy out watching it so much when I was a kid.This was always, and still is a hilarious masterpiece that is criminally underrated.For whatever reason, another movie that connects with this one for me is Summer School (1987). I really wish it was on Blu-Ray as well. Hopefully one day we’ll get it too.I honestly don’t know why Summer School connects with Opportunity Knocks for me personally. Maybe I saw both movies at the same time on TV when I was younger.As for the transfer, if you’ve purchased any of the other Mill Creek Blu-Rays, then you know what to expect. I really can’t complain.I’m just happy to see this movie finally getting HD treatment.I never bought the DVD for this movie, so I can’t compare the two. But on it’s own, the Blu-Ray looks excellent. I’ve never seen this movie look so good.The last time I watched it was on satellite a few years ago. I have been holding out for a Blu-Ray release for years.I know I requested Mill Creek and Shout! Factory both to release this, along with Summer School and Motorama (1991).Unfortunately I was told by Mill Creek that there aren’t any HD assets made available for Motorama, so the odds of it getting a Blu-Ray release anytime soon aren’t good unfortunately.If you enjoy Dana Carvey, you’ll most likely enjoy this movie. The great thing about Dana Carvey is that he’s still an incredible comedian to this day. His new standup specials are excellent, and I really enjoyed watching them too.But it’s so nice to go back to 1990 and see Dana Carvey at his prime in this movie.I would recommend buying this movie, even if you’re only collecting these cool Mill Creek ‘I Love The 90’s’ Blu-Rays with the retro VHS slipcovers. If you’re a Dana Carvey fan, it’s a no brainer. This is a must-have.The only extras on this Blu-Ray are some deleted scenes and the trailer. It’s about the same as all the other Mill Creek discs.I really can’t recommend this one enough.

The video was just as advertised

Watching Wedding Crashers in the theater made me hungry for this film again. It must have been at least eight years since I caught it on TV, but my memory of the film hadn't dulled, and I was relieved to find that my appreciation for its humor and emotional content hadn't dulled either. This film is just as funny and sweet as it was on the first viewing. Carvey is a genious of an actor here, not just making you laugh out loud on every other beat, but really pulling on the heartstrings and creating a character you truly care for at the same time. There's real heart in this film about a Con Artist that walks into the biggest con of his life and ends up falling in love. It has all the humor, emotion, and plot that Wedding Crashers did, only it's done better: funnier, sweeter, and also far more clever. Even if you have no idea who Dana Carvey is (shame on you!) this is definitely a comedy worth watching.

What's not to like. Dana Carvey is hilarious. The plot is simple. The acting is on par for what this flick. The picture quality is decent (best for home video to-date) and the audio will suffice but is very weak for today's standards (because it's basically stereo and not surround and not lossless). but for this movie, what do you expect. It's fine.If you've not seen this film, get this version. Enjoy!

I saw this in theaters when it first came out and LOVED IT!!! It is a comedy, but also a touching story with great actors and a terrific plot. I highly recommend this movie to anyone looking for a great comedy to make you laugh.

A con man sneaks into a house convinces family he is someone else and makes everyone love himDoes he take the money and run or stay and become a changed man ?Hilarity ensues Robert Loggia is great as always and Dana Carvey is just crazy enough to make things work sometimes he can be over the top but here he is at his best.

If you can overlook the lack of quality acting, this movie is pretty good! Dana Carvey is classic in this, playing quite a different role than most of his Saturday Night Live personae. The movie is probably not suitable for small children because of some adult themes and language, but with appropriate supervision should be fine for most of the family. For less than $10, it is a great choice if you need to get to $25 for that free shipping!

This is Dana Carvey's best film, forget the Waynes World films, all though they are hilarious comedy's, Opportunity Knocks is Dana Carvey's finest work.Opportunity Knocks is a con man film, they are actually quite rare but i find when one comes about i always enjoy it and Opportunity Knocks is probally my favourite simply because its a real feel good movie mostly thanks to the brilliant Dana Carvey. He is just superb in the con man role, playing it with such wit and charm. Carvey steals every scene including a scene in a karaoke bar where he sings Born To Be Wild, the first time i watched it i fell on the floor laughing and i still do now when i watch it.Opportunity Knocks is a great example of a real feel good enjoyable movie. If you find yourself a bit down, this film will soon cheer you up and leave you with a warm feeling.
