Top heavy, tricky assembly
This had all the potential of being a great, durable toy to bring out year after year. Sure it is very cute at first glance but there are some major drawbacks:It is extremely top heavy. My one year old can't play with it without the roof constantly falling offYou have to shake or wiggle the roof to get the music to play. Why isn't there a push button on the wreath??The door is constantly falling off and the entire house is separating from the base. This should have come pre-assembled with the house securely attached to the baseDoesn't come with 3 AAA batteries- so be prepared if you order thisThe assembly was a bit of a nightmare. You have to hammer in threaded plastic screws to attach the wreath. Pay attention because it is marked which way is right way up but it is very small. If you installed it wrong way up you'd be up a creek without a paddle trying to pry the screws out and try againYou have to attach the gingerbread stickers yourself. Again- careful! Because I almost ripped the stickers just getting them off the sheet. Once in contact with the plastic gingerbread form it is next to impossible to reposition. My 8 year old does enjoy playing with this too and the music and lights are fun. If you can get past the tricky assembly and some flimsy plastic it might be fun to have around.

Cheapest piece of junk ever. Don’t waste your money!!
We have the Step2 Christmas tree, the snowman, AND the rocking reindeer, and we love them all! This gingerbread house looks so cute in pictures but is the cheapest, most obnoxious toy we own. It’s wobbly and the house doesn’t click into the base. The roof is wobbly and doesn’t lock into the house in any way. NONE of the decorations click into place to stay put. So if you want to take the roof lid off to get other pieces out, all of the decorations come off. The candy canes just kind of dangle there. The door is useless since it’s a door to nowhere, and doesn’t click in place either. I genuinely am disappointed that Step2 had a chance to make another quality toy and instead put this piece of junk out there just to get our money, and if I hadn’t broken the plastic screws trying to get the stupid peppermint in place, I’d be returning it tomorrow. Worst toy purchase I’ve ever made!! If I could give it zero stars I would.

Cheap quality
The media could not be loaded. I paid full price for this toy and it is a huge disappointment. It’s very cheaply made. I wouldn’t pay more than $10 for it.The base is flimsy. You’re supposed to snap the house into the base but it shakes so easily. It’s not sturdy at all. The second you push against it, it shakes. The roof doesn’t securely nestle into place. So it falls off easily. And the wreath is impossible to install properly. You’re supposed to screw it on but the holes are too small and plastic is too cheap. Complete waste of money

Not Good Step 2 Quality Like Expected
I had purchased the Step 2 My First Christmas Tree last year and loved it. I expected the same from the Gingerbread house this year. In theory, it's a cute concept. But it's not great quality. The house itself is supposed to snap down onto the base. In doing so, the door is supposed to stay attached as well. But unfortunately the snaps aren't made well and the until falls apart very easily. Maybe you could glue the house to the base, but who wants to pay $40 for and item and have to do that?

Cute but room for a lot of improvement.
I loved this when we first opened it, it is super cute! But once I began putting it together, I quickly started having my doubts. The roof portion is very top heavy and falls of the house quite easily. The house comes off the snow base easily, as well, causing the door to come unhinged. This makes for a very upset toddler who just made a "masterpiece" with the candy decorations only to have them fall to the floor. She also wants to know why there aren't enough candy canes for the holes in the snow. I have no explanation for her. The wreath is super cute, lighting up and playing Christmas tunes, but you have to shake it or tap it hard for it to play. Yes, you guessed it, this in turn causes the roof to topple off. Insert a very upset toddler. The gingerbread man/woman stickers have to be put on by you, so if someone in the household has a very steady hand, and is patient, make sure you pass this part of the set up to them. These are attributes I do not possess and should have waited for my husband to get home. Once they touch the plastic there is no adjusting. All in all, for the money I expected more from Step 2. Would I buy it again knowing what I know now?! No, absolutely not. Especially for this price. If they can improve on these issues it would easily be a a favorite seasonal toy with years after year enjoyment.

Zero complaints
I have zero complaints about this toy. Assembly took less than 10min, which included tracking down a screwdriver I didn't need yet (gotta go buy batteries). The door goes on before the house goes to the base. Once clicked all the way together, the door does not come off. Yes, the roof comes off. That is where all of the pieces are stored. Of course, it has to be easily removed for an 18m old to take off. Once on, it did not come off, even with my 3 attacking it. The wreath has a removable piece that gets attached to the roof piece. It goes in with plastic tap screws. These are designed to be larger than their holes. You wiggle a little bit to get the first ridge in. Then you can press with your thumb or tap lightly with a hammer or back of a screwdriver. If you are really struggling, just take the screwdriver and put the point in. That will widen the whole just a smidge so you can tap the screw in. Done. That was it. Your only real assembly was putting that plate on. There are more pieces of decoration than there are placement spots which led to more fun decorating in different ways. Technically, this toy says 18m+. My walking 10m old loves it. The 4 and 5yr old decorate. He tears it apart. Lol. Very cute Christmas toy, just like the matching tree. Well worth the approx 20 bucks. Maybe I'll grab the snowman, too
