A must read
This is my new favorite author. Her books are original and hit upon sensitive subject matters that may be too heavy for some, but if you are a true avid reader, trust me, you will appreciate her writing. This book deals with the too oft heard subject of child sexual abuse. I felt the mother's anger and who knows how we would react if put in the same position. I found the book to be so true to life. The little boy in the book, who really, is the center of this story, is a wonderful, loving character, I am sure all of us know someone like him. I also enjoyed the relationships the mom had with her long time friend, as well as the committment to her husband that shone through in the end of the book. Although this authors books do cover sensitive subjects, they should be required reading material in school for high school kids.

Jodi Picoult never shies away from tough, timely subjects.
How far would you go if your five-year-old son were sexually molested? Jodi Picoult takes on this question in PERFECT MATCH, a story that kept me reading all night. Nina Frost, a dedicated prosecutor specializing in child sexual abuse cases, Caleb, a stonemason, and their young son, Nathaniel, are a happy Maine family until Nathaniel suddenly stops talking. What has happened to their gregarious child, Nina and Caleb frantically wonder. The answer becomes clear as Nathaniel exhibits signs of having been molested, but only he knows the identity of his abuser. Using American Sign Language, which he learned from his therapist, he eventually leads Nina to a shocking answer.Nina, who has spent her career attempting to protect children from abusers, flies into a rage so intense that she barely recognizes herself. A mesmerizing courtroom drama then plays out. This is not an ordinary book about a run-of-the-mill trial. It is filled with twists and turns, and all the while, the Frost family is tested. Will Nina, Caleb and Nathaniel exist as a family after the long emotional ordeal comes to an end? And what will that end look like?As she always does, Jodi Picoult makes me think. In PERFECT MATCH, she tackles an uncomfortable subject head-on and in a well-written, thoroughly researched book, she makes me wonder to what lengths I would go to protect my child.

A perfectly fantastic book by Jodi Picoult...
Fantastic as all the books I've read by Jodi Picoult are. I just finished reading this one & I had a hard time putting it down. Each time I finish one of her books, I think it's her best. I think her best is still reseved for "The Pact" but that could be because I was new to her as an author when I first read it. This book was sensational. All her books could be true...they all touch on subjects that are very real life. This one was gripping, tension-filled but not scary. A page-turner with a bit of romance but not at all what I'd call a chick-flick. Actually, I love romances but men call them chick flicks, I don't.The premise of the book is something you would read on the news & it is realistic. A courtroom drama, a family drama, a drama about a mother's love for her son & the actions any one could relate to. Makes you wonder what YOU would do if faced with the main character's dilemna. You'll be very glad you read this book. I like to re-read books, maybe a couple of years later when they seem to be new but this book is unforgettable so I don't think I'll ever re-read it as a new book...but I am sure glad to have read it now! Now on to a new Jodi Picoult novel!

Jodi picoult always has all the feelings in her books
This one is no different. I only wonder am I the only person that didn’t like Nina? That was angry at her? That we didn’t get to hear from the priests family or congregation? I need a sequel to know did Nathaniel really turn out ok after all that? I loved the book but it made me so angry!!

Too unrealistic
After reading and falling in love with My Sister's Keeper, I was excited to read more of Jodi Picoult's work. Like most people have already stated, the book started off with great potential and I didn't wanna put it down. But about halfway through, way too much was going on and it took a turn for the worst. Nina turned from a trophy wife and picture perfect mom to a pyschotic and overobsessive woman. I wanted so bad to root for her and sympathize with her actions, but Picoult made to where this character couldn't be called a heroin or even the protagonist, for that matter. She was flat out insane, and I got to the point where I would skip over the parts where Nina would constantly (and creepily) talk about her obsessions with her son. As much as I wanted to hope that she got off for what she did, I just couldn't. *SPOILER ALERT* If the priest she murdered actually was the one who raped her son, I would've been more on her side. But the fact that by taking the law into her own hands and killed a good and innocent man, well, there's no way around it -- she should've been locked up. Her getting away with it was a true scenario of obstruction of justice. The message sent was that anger can justify the mistaken but blatant murder of someone innocent. It was just too overdone. On top of that, her best friend's obsessive love interest in Nina was just plain annoying, and her husband was pathetic. Nathaniel's thoughts were too thorough and advanced for a five year old, and what was the point of Quentin's relationship with his teenage son? It was nothing more than an unnecessary side story to make the story drag on. But the last twenty pages or so, I wasn't even interested anymore, just ready to finally know the ending. The novel was worded phenomenally -- but too bad the substance didn't match it. Oh well, it kept my attention for most part, but I don't think I'd recommend it, let alone read it again.

Conflicted...I’d give it a 3.5 if I could but it was very well researched and written - as always
As always JP is flawless in her story telling and thought provoking in her character’s actions. I don’t really like these people very much - except the child - but that is not necessary for a good novel. I had a difficult time relating to this mother who does something that I could never see myself doing. During the trial I came to some acceptance of her actions. I go so far as accepting that her deed was truly a defensible action. I was, and remain, totally unready to accept the more calculated action of her husband. This is a mostly emotionally charged review driven by my own moral ground.

Spellbinding and absolutely enthralling
This book will keep you glued to the pages to the point where you cannot put it down. From the heartbreaking beginning with the little girl who is told she can't stand trial, through the ups and downs of the actual main characters' feelings and actions, and finally to the main trial... You won't be able to take your eyes off of the page for even a second.I started this book around 8:30am this morning and couldn't put it down untill I'd finished it at 6:25pm.This book will make you laugh, it'll make you cry. It'll make your heart ache for Nina and it'll utterly break it for Nathaniel.Perfect Match will make you question how far YOU would go to protect the ones you love most in the world. It'll make you question the very blurry line between what is morally right/wrong and what is lawfully right/wrong and most importantly, it'll make you wonder exactly what would go through your mind when faced with the question of "what exactly IS justice?" And it will also show you that we have a court system, but for necessarily a justice system.I highly recommend this book to anyone who will not be psychologically or emotionally harmed by reading about things like child abuse, violence, vigilantism, or about how our court systems can often fail the extremely vulnerable people who need it the most, or the about the repercussions of said failures.

This was an intriguing book.I wasn’t expecting so many twists and turns but ultimately the ending was satisfying.Very believable. Most characters likeable. Can’t add more without adding spoilers and I don’t want to do take.Read and you’ll not be disappointed one little bit.
