Two sides to the coming out story
Bottled Up Secret is a very solid entry in the gay coming out/coming of age genre. It is well written and well edited. It's filled with charming characters, and a couple not-so-charming ones. And it tells the classic coming out story well, and with a twist. Brendan is nervous, but ready to come out, and he does, to a limited degree. Mark is scared of anyone finding out, and he most definitely does not want to be found out. These young lovers eventually face a choice, when time and events conspire against them. The ending is in part what you might expect, and in part what you don't expect. I'm not so sure I agree with the unexpected part, but choices are choices, and I guess only a sequel to this delightful book would let us know if the book's ending was completely realistic or not. But then again, what teenaged boy is completely realistic.

Don't waste your money.
Disappointing. One boy is told by his mother that he must "stop" being gay. He must be "confused." "Don't tell your sisters." Etc. And what happens by the end of the "story" concerning he and his mother and sisters? Nothing much. Oh, he's "angry" about it.His on again and off on again boyfriend is so afraid to allow anyone else know he is gay. Hence he breaks up with his boyfriend when his sister finds them kissing. IF he is so paranoid -- he WOULD NOT put himself into this situation. But except for agreeing to be "boyfriends" again, NOTHING else is resolved.Mildly interesting, fairly well written, but in this is "coming of age story" almost nothing get resolved. Almost as if the author lost interest himself and left out the last 10 chapters.Don't waste your money.

Great story about a first love
Still in school and meeting someone that takes your breath away,, and he likes you back the same way, but affraid what others might think. I like the book very much, good characters with lessons learned, , very enjoyable.

Story is about two coming out in 2 ways
First, I felt it was very unrealistic of the author to write about two guy's dating for several months in this day and age and not at least have mutual masturbation, when oral sex is so in with teenagers straight and gay. This book is decent, but there are many better coming out stories to spend money on. The author is very young and will mature as he continues to write.

The story was good however nothing surprised me in the plot
Hope there is a part two of this story coming soon. I want to read more about Brendan and Mark. I appreciated that the author didn't repeat himself over and over. The story was good however nothing surprised me in the plot.

There are no Feels
The story of two young men in a clandestine relationship, how could that be boring. Glad you asked: The author goes into excessive detail everywhere, over subjects that don't appear anywhere else in the book. The characters talk to each other like all dialogue must resemble a five part essay. And when you finally get past all that, the scenes between the two guys... you just don't feel the love. It stirs up about as much emotion as a grocery list.

Good
A nice little story but without giving the story away it would have nice to have a slightly different ending.
