I have tried making sushi before and it always fell apart and wasn't very successful. This contraption does make life easier. It's not perfect, but the end results are definitely better than without it in my case . My main complaint would be the size of the sushi is a little on the large size for my liking.. And when cutting the groves do not always line up and you can find yourself trying to cut through the plastic. But once you get used to it the cutting isn't so bad. For the price you can't really go wrong. I have tried using the traditional bamboo mat but that didn't work for me. The dog ended up eating more than I did.
