I assumed the friend enjoyed it for his fair share of late-night games and ...
Roommate's friend was moving cross-country and gave us his Mitsubishi flat-screen free of charge. I assumed the friend enjoyed it for his fair share of late-night games and movies, as did we, and we gradually saw the picture on it fade every time we used it. It got to be so dim, we couldn't even tell it was still on, until one day, it just wouldn't turn on. It sat in our living room as a dormant decoration for months until I ordered this lamp, which I installed myself after watching this video ([...]) and it's as good as new!- Make sure you clean any dust that has built up behind your TV before installing the lamp.- I did not like the screws that came with this lamp, so I suggest using the screw that comes with your old lamp- This lamp does not come in an airtight bag or completely sealed package as seen in the video, so be careful with what the cardboard box comes into contact with. Mine was just wrapped onto a cardboard piece that was folded up into the cardboard box, so it was not exactly protected from any dust, dirt, or vapor that could have made its way in there.

Good purchase, expect it to last a few months... not as bright as the original, so I’ll probably buy a different one when this one goes out.

Just Wow
My old bulb was still working, but with over 6000 hours on it. My Satellite channels seemed to come in ok but when watching the 3D the pictures were really dark even when adjusting brightness level to highest setting, I took my TV down and used compressed air to clean the dust that had accumulated over past 5 years. I then removed old bulb then blew out the dust on the cooling fans. I also removed the whole front cover and cleaned the lens and back side of screen. Put everything back together. I figured (being frugal) that I would just reinstall my old bulb, It did improve but not by too much, Couple weeks later I put in the Blu ray "3D Suicide Squad" and it was still to dark, So quickly (less than 5 min) Installed this new bulb, Restarted the movie and WOW what a difference..... So my figuring is, if you are not liking the 3D picture, and your bulb is still working, use the old one for a spare. But replace the bulb with a high quality bulb like this one.

Replace with this before yours shorts out
First, as a non-OEM replacement, it fits the Mitsu 73 inch just as the factory fit, no complaints there. The picture is VERY bright however, even on the alternate settings, so, I am hoping after some burn in time, it looks more ‘normal’. The bulb is very aggressive and is borderline ‘washing out’ the picture. Again, I believe after some burn in time, it will settle but, man this thing may give you a tan at first : ) I also recommend swapping your bulb before it fails. If your picture is dim, drop the money and replace now, if you wait for the bulb to fail, you run a high risk of damaging other components leading to either repair or replacement of the tv. This bulb is a great alternative, 4 stars simply because it is so bright at first but, that may also be just because of how poor the picture was befor by comparison. Looks like a brand new tv otherwise, happy with th color, etc.

This is really amazing. Had my tv out for the count collecting dustfor about 7 months. Bought the tv used and got about 2 or 3 good years out if it so i wasn't so bummed when the light started to fade. But about a momth or two ago i happened to stubble apon a youtube video on how easy it was to fix i said f it let me try it out. So long story long went on amazon and it either this one or the 20$ version and i read the reviews and figure dont go cheap unless you want to replace it in a couple months and thats what i did. Couldn't be happier with my purchase it came quickly with nothing broken and now my tv looks better than it ever did before. With only replacing 3 screws??? I found it amazing. So get product get buy im happy with it and i recommend it.

Made my TV new again.
TV went dark and had a fast blinking green LED on the on/off button. It was past time for a bulb so I spent 4x as much to get this bulb after agonizing over the reviews for way too long. This bulb fit perfectly and appears to be OEM. It was packaged very well (tight plastic wrap to cardboard and shipped in a box). The plug lining up was not an issue at all as it was for reviewers of cheaper bulbs. I took the opportunity to clean out the TV with canned air before putting this bulb in. Brightness is like new (I had not realized how much it had dimmed over time) and I have no problems with dark areas on the screen. I has careful not to touch the bulb and am hopeful this lasts as long as the last bulb did. It was hard to spend the money when cheaper alternatives existed, but others seemed to have terrible luck with cheaper bulbs.

Well worth it.
I have purchased a cheap knock off because it was cheaper but be careful you get what you pay for.I had notice the screen had gotten dimmer and dimmer to the point you could only see the TV if you were standing right in front.So I said I wasn't going to do that again and I paid a larger price but it is soo worth it.My TV is bright again it looks like a brand new TV again I love it and right before football season life is great again.**Overall**the product is original OEM parts made for our TV.It's a little more expensive then cheap knockoffs but it is way worth it, I love my TV again.And it's way easy to install it's only 3 screws then slide it out and slide the new one back in there is no wires as the plug goes in as you slide the light in.

faulty product
Bought this back in April and in the middle of May my TV started to shut off by it self. I tried to see if there was another fix before returning the item. I was unable to find another fix for the TV shutting off. My return window had already past. I message the Amazon team and spoke with 2 different people. They also tried everything they could to see why it was not working. They finally sent me a shipping label for my return and apologized for any inconvenience I had experienced due to the picture tube not working. I think I just received an item that was faulty..... Thank you Amazon!!!
