Gerbing's Gyde 12 Volt Thermogauge-powersport

I had been using the controller with the little knobs with my Gerbing's gloves and jacket liner. The heat was never steady and all the cords were inconvenient. This controller keeps the gear heated very steady. I never knew my heated gear could be so nice. Once you get your bike started and your gear plugged in you just open the app on your phone. Set the heat level to whatever you want. I am riding in 35% weather and I have a small windshield and no fairing. I set the gloves on 7 and the jacket on 5. Anymore and they just get too hot. Just turn the phone off and you don't have to mess with it again until you disconnect the power to your gear. The process only takes just a few seconds. This is a wonderful product and I wish I had know about it sooner.

After some research, I bought this to pair with a Gyde jacket liner and gloves. It works as advertised, but the directions that come with it are very lacking. Hooking it up was very straight forward - white to white, black to black. The app that is required to use it also works very well, but lacks basic set up info - such as which channel is for the jacket and which is for the gloves. I guessed wrong, and ended up cranking up the gloves when I meant to crank up the jacket - and the gloves heated to the point that they burned one hand. Once slowed down and tested one channel at a time and figured things out, everything was fine. Both the gloves and the jacket liner can get roasting hot, so start low and work your way up.The app does reset to "off" on both channels between uses, so you do have to set the temperature each time. But, the process is very simple and quick, and don't see it as that big of an issue, though an option to keep the temperature settings is something that Gyde should consider in future updates to the software.

Only good thing about this is you don't have to mount it on your bike. Pull your phone out in the rain or weather to adjust temp??? You have to reconnect everytime and the software has a serious lag. Takes 1 minute.

Don't buy they don't update there app so cant use

There are separate temperature controls for gloves and jacket. 10 on the gloves is too cold. 1 on the jacket liner is pretty warm. So the limiting factor is Gerbing's refusal to send enough power to the gloves. The gloves work great plugged straight into the pigtail, but there's no way to get them warm enough with the controller if temperatures are much below freezing. Gerbing believes that nobody needs warm hands. That seems like a strange way of thinking for the business they're in, but they got my money, so I guess they're doing something right.Then, of course, Bluetooth is flaky by nature. If it disconnects, then when it reconnects the controller sets both vest and glove temperatures at zero, because Gerbing believes nobody needs any warmth at all (this is 100% Gerbing's decision when they designed the app: Absolutely nothing prevents a phone app, iOS or Android, from sending the controller the same information again after a bluetooth connection is interrupted). Sometimes you're riding along and you start feeling pretty chilly. When that happens, you're pulling over and spending two minutes at the side of the road with one glove off, playing with your phone.This morning, after three seasons of light use, I got on the bike, went through the usual tedious process of turning the heat on, and set off for work. A block from home the heat went off and I started feeling chilly. It's Gerbing Time! So I pulled over to play with my phone at the side of the road. This time, it was never able to connect again.Pathetic.

The app that controls this hasn't been updated since 2016 thus rendering it useless and unable to work with any device that's been built since then. Don't buy this. It worked well and if you have an old phone laying around you might be able to get it to work.
