Great Door! Cats love it!
Works great! Very glad we got this. As soon as they've eaten a little breakfast 3 of them are sitting waiting for the cover to be lifted out so they can escape to the deck and check for the Florida lizards and frogs! Our Fatty Catty Mr. TT is the only one who still has to be shown how to use it, but he has hip probs, so we humor him. There is also an in door catdoor in laundry room they use. The rest of the gang of 6 have no problem going in and out, especially if thunder booms! It took a little longer to put in, but was actually pretty easy--do go get good stripping-you need much thicker than they send, and we also used a different stripping on the other end of the slider to keep hot air out. We use this particular slider all the time and have had nothing go wrong. We also use a door lock at the bottom at night or when we leave. Our doors open onto a covered pool deck-the furry ones demand to be outside lounging even in 90 degree temps-cats are nuts but we love them anyway.

Serves the purpose
It was easy to assemble and install. I got the one with the smallest opening for my cats. I put the weather stripping that came with it on the right side of the unit because there was a gap there. I then purchased expandable foam weather seal, 1/2 X 1/2 inch, and put two layers of this on the part that is next to the patio door. I then placed a stick in the door to hold the door closed tightly and this pressed the weatherstripping tightly against the door. There does not seem to be any air escaping. The flap has a nice magnet on it to hold it shut. This door leads to a screened in porch as my cats do not go outside. One of my cats learned right away how to get in and out of it, but the other cat will only go out if I hold the flap open for her. She just needs more time and my patience to get her through it on her own. I am glad I purchased this and I would highly recommend it to others.

Timesaver
Since I don't like to bow to the whims of my two cats who are so neurotic about needing to see what is in the patio, going past the patio, is that a bird OH MY GOD THAT IS A BIRD I NEED TO TRY AND EAT IT, not to mention that I keep their litterbox on my patio for our olfactory sakes in my apartment complex, and come the cool climes and times of California winter, I got tired of having cold floors and potential robbery, all in the name of keeping my litterbox on my patio. I'd leave the door open enough for even the oldest pudgiest cat to squeeze her calico rear though. But wake up to freezer floors and a draft :( Even with a curtain pulled across to help mitigate the air seeping in. So one day, I turned to my husband while in the car and mused. "If they have dog doors, for doors... maybe they have animal doors for patio doors" Brilliant idea whomever came up with these. Because a quick look and I found them. And after price searching and measuring my cats - much to their //delight// - I bought this one. Perfect sized opening for my two furry companions. It comes in two pieces, and was easy to fit and hand screw. This thing is ridiculous easy to assemble. And it's literally forgettable once you get it in place. I open the door, I close the door, I don't need to worry. No more cold floors since Christmas.Pros:* Easy assembly, I had no problems following the directions.* Real glass and metal. Allows me to look out onto my patio and is incredibly sturdy. Takes a beat from my kid and husband sliding the patio door closed and open to get to the BBQ.* Comes with a panel that you can slide right over the actual door and thus lock it to keep animals in/out or really super small and skinny intruders from worming their way in.* Magnet in the bottom of the flap, that provides some weight to the heavy vinyl flap to cut down on breezes or staying open.* If you have tools and are adventurous, you can even screw it into your doorway for added stability, and also screw the holes in the side, to accommodate the natural lock on your sliding door to lock it into the pet panel if you want to. Comes with a lock for the bottom.Cons:* Actually //inserting// the door was a little wonky, as there's a ridged panel on the top that hides the springs that make this adjustable. Our patio door has a lip that hangs down on either side significantly. So I had to unscrew and remove it to fit. This mean taking out the insert and just putting lining up there to block any air. If I didn't have the lip on our door or if we owned the place, I would have forced it in and done repairs.* My cats balked at it for a few days. They didn't like it at first, hated it, the older one retaliated a few times but eventually, they got used to it.* You can hear when an animal is coming and going, it has a distinct click from the magnets aligning into spot after they've gone through. Good/bad, you choose. I find it helps me keep track of who's coming and going. Not so cool in the middle of the night and you think there's a burglar. All in all, when we move, it's coming with us. I'll have to figure out how we'll get it down but from the looks of it, pretty easy. It's save me a ton of time, and some cold feet. It's pricy, I'll admit - pricier at brick and mortar stores believe me, by like 80 bucks) but at the same time, it's an utter convenience and life saver. I can still keep the kitty litter outside all year round. If you live in colder climes then you'll need to head to home depot or lowes and consult with someone there about what kind of insulating strip to put between it and the actual patio door so there's no gaps. But thankfully, that's relatively inexpensive as what comes with it won't be adequate in a long term.

Door to freedom and bug free happiness!
We have a DIVA cat. She likes to go outside into our balcony but would throw a fit of the door wasn't left open. This left bugs in the house and NO ONE was happy. I had looked at these for a long time. Read so many reviews my eyes crossed and anxiety prevailed where I didn't buy anything! Then I saw this door. The price was reasonable and I took a chance. Please note we live on the third floor of an apartment. This door works with our screen and for us it didn't need to be secure as we only use it when we are home. Our glass patio door works like always as this pet door sits on the screen track. We butt the screen door up to the pet door and close the glass door either even with the pet door or close and lock it when not in use.The most difficult part of this was opening the box with the jumbo sized staples! I did have to detach the two halves once because I had the knobs on the wrong side(you want them on the inside). But this is a great option. Took less then 15 minutes to assemble and install. The spring loaded top ensures a perfect and snug fit. The weather stripping was fine for me. I even sealed the part between the two panels. It took our cat a little bit to get used to it. I taped up the door up at first to let her know it was the "door to freedom". Then let it down. Because our cat watches her weight and is not food motivated at all... It took about a week for her to finally cave and use it.Now she comes and goes as she pleases and our house is fly free! And for extra laughs we watch her duck her head and come through the flap because she appears to not like the flap on her face.

Good but must be handy to install
The weather stripping included is worthless. I was glad I read the reviews of this product before ordering. They were right. I had to go to local hardware store and purchased foam insulation with sticky back. The unit goes together quickly but we had to cut the top aluminum strip as it was too large for our door.
