Works Great To Remove Fleas
This flea comb did a great job of removing fleas and flea debris (flea poop and such) from some semi-feral kittens when they were too young to be given spot-on flea drops (Revolution). Their Mama was (and still is) fully feral, but I was eventually able to handle the kittens without her attacking me. The babies were miserable with fleas, and this comb was a great help in alleviating some of their discomfort (not to mention the possibility of them becoming anemic due to fleas). When there were a lot of fleas in the comb, I dropped the entire comb into a container of soapy water, let it sit for a few seconds, then swished it around (wearing gloves, of course) to remove the fleas, then dried it with a paper towel, and resumed combing the kittens. When there were just a couple of fleas, I was easily able to pick them out and drop/fling them into the container of water or squish them with the flat of my thumbnail.I have also used a flea comb on my adult cats for many years to help remove the dead undercoat. It does almost as good a job on the undercoat as a slicker brush (but not quite, so I also use a slicker brush). Even though a slicker brush will do a great job of removing the undercoat, I like using this flea comb first, so I can check for fleas or flea debris, and also check for scabs or wounds or growths, etc.I am of the opinion that any home with a cat (even indoor-only cats like all of mine) needs a flea comb, and this Oster flea comb is among the best I've used.

Sturdy, good teeth placement and good quality
I ordered some other combs here on Amazon last month and wish I’d started with this one first. This comb has a really nice little curve to it that makes it easy to use. And the teeth are sturdy and well placed. I use this comb to clean my Persian Cats’ little faces, eyes, and nose folds. This one is really exceptional for being able to do this while leaving the whiskers alone. A great purchase. Thank you for having such a great quality product.

There is no substitute for combing fleas out
The cat had a bad flea problem. So I used Vet's Best Natural flea spray at first, but with her long hair it didn't get as evenly distributed as it needs to be. Plus there was only a certain amount of spraying she would put up before she would want to leave. So I would spray, then comb, then dip it into a container with some of the liquid and comb. Cleared an alarming amount of fleas out. But since the house was infected as well, combing was a daily thing for a while until the life cycle was finally broken. I used diatomaceous earth all over the carpet and even hard surfaces to control them in the house. Even with the spray, and later diatomaceous earth, I still did find live, though impaired fleas. Not sure if they would have lived much longer, but getting them out made sure they were gone. With the comb, you can feel if there's some hard thing in the fur, which are the larger fleas. Even some of the smaller ones can be felt. If you feel one, you just keep going back through that area until you get it. Keep a container of soapy water you can dunk it into to get the fleas off and drown them. The comb will get the really small ones out as well. And even the flea dirt and eggs. It also does a good job of just keeping her hair groomed.

Simple but effective design
Now it may seem strange to "love" a flea comb, but this little gem is really easy to use and is helpful when your flea treatment is nearing the end of its effectiveness. It has a slight curve to it, rather than being perfectly flat, which enables you to kind of slide it over your pet's skin, going with the grain of the fur, without hurting them. I use it more on my cats than dogs, as the thin tines do not really glide through coats as dense as Rough Collies. Be sure to hold loose skin taut with one hand while combing with the other, that way you don't pinch the skin. The fact that there is no handle makes it easy to hold in either hand. You can drown any fleas you capture in a small container of soapy water, alcohol or vinegar and water solution, or you can just squish them with your thumbnail where the tines meet the plastic (takes a little bit of dexterity). You can also get dirt and loose hair off your pet with this comb, just work through tangled areas slowly, from the ends back toward the body until the comb slides freely. They may take a little time to get used to it, but if you're gentle, your pet should enjoy a good grooming with this comb. (Once the tines begin to show wear, you can use it on your air conditioner to straighten the cooling fins that can get bent when you clean them).

Cat loves his cat comb!
Sturdy product. Lasts for years. This is my second one and only had to buy another so I could keep one at each house.
