This thread repair kit did the job and it was quite simple. The only downfall to this kit is the drill bit requires a 3/4 inch drill which most people don't own. I had to grind down the drill bit to fit my drill. The rest of the kit worked great. You will need a tap handle for the tap. Take your time cutting your new threads. You will need a new drain plug which will obviously be a bigger size then the original.

I broke my harmonic balancer bolt, and half of it was left inside of the crankshaft on my 2002 Mustang GT and this saved the the engine!!! It was the perfect size to run the tap through and install a helicoil. I also used Permatex red high temperature thread sealant on the Helicoil to make sure it stayed in place. I'm so grateful that this product existed to say the least.

What makes this kit great is the extra helicoils. I managed to mangle 2 on installation when the coils would skip a thread. And as previously mentioned, you’ll need a larger drill Chuck to fit the supplied bit. After all is said and done, I was able to fix my stripped oil drain on my Yamaha Yz125.

Used one time to try to repair the threads on a wheel hub, standard iron M14x1.5 thread. The included drill bit does not fit in a half inch drill, so you either need to source an alternate bit, or find a bigger drill. The tap disintegrated on first use, leaving terrible thread quality and no possibility for a second use. Note: this is not my first time using a tap, and I have never seen a tap do what this one did. I would absolutely not recommend this product to anyone.

Use the correct tools and this kit will give you excellent service when repairing damaged threads. This kit worked as well as the name brands that I have used in the past.

This is a good tool for difficult jobs. Everything you need for the size you need.

This kit is a pain in the posterior the tap is either extreamly dull or the drill bit is the wrong diameter, also the drill bit is not a step shank, to use it you'll need a 3/4 drill chuck to use it.I used the kit to repair a drain plug in aluminum, this kit almost cost me the oil pan, I had extreme difficulty in getting the tap to cut a thread. When I installed the coil and tried to install the bolt it galled the bolt and the coil had to file the bolt threads and replace the coil with another.One positive is this kit uses really long coils which I like. And the key would break correctly when you wanted it to, not when it wanted to, preventing partial install of the coil.

Item work good I used it for oil pan drain plug on a Volkswagen Jetta installed new threads with no problem
