Quality product. Very pleased with purchase so far!
I'm one to research the heck out of things, and I narrowed my wired dog fence system down to two and chose this. Two weeks later I couldn't be more pleased. I wanted smallest collar unit to be least cumbersome to my dog, yet durable and most features and level of settings. I went with pro grade option and 1,000' of cable. Was surprised when that came on just one spool- great, no splice needed in middle of run! Also it doesn't say it, but it *does* come with a surge protector, which otherwise costs about $25. I rented EZ Trencher to lay cable but that was tough in soggy lawn- kept clogging with mud. Tears up the lawn a bit. You'll have this regardless of fence system you buy of course. But following the training plan and having a system with 7 levels of "correction" and a beep-only mode allowed me to have my dog fully trained in less than a week. We did the beep-only training for 3 full days, emphasizing the praise when running back away from wire. I was careful to try to avoid her approaching the line gradually from parallel, and rather tried to have her approach perpendicularly so she'd know exactly where the "bad" place was and to turn 180 deg back from it. On day 4 I turned the collar to shock, I mean correction, level 3. She's a stubborn but smart little 45 lb pit bull mix so I wasn't sure that would be enough, but didn't want to overdue it either. I first tested it on my arm and was surprised that it was a very low level shock, like a tickle. (Nothing like putting your finger in a light socket, that's for sure.). So I put collar on dog and eventually she wandered close to the line, and I was shocked when she was shocked and let out a loud yelp while jumping a couple feet in the air! Geez I felt really bad, honestly, but hoped that was a major learning point (which it was!) and I proceeded to reprogram the collar down to lowest correction setting of 1. We then did a few days of training still on a long leash and if she got too close she'd jump back as soon as the unit beeped. On day 8 I wasn't thinking and didn't notice that another family member took the collar off her, and took her out on long leash. She saw deer and bolted at them, ripping leash out of my hand. But she stopped right before the flagged, and just barked and whined at the deer 30' away. Then is when I knew this is really working, and I started off-leash training the next day. I'm now at day 11 in total which includes 3-4 days of off-leash and it's going great so far. No breaches, even when barreling full speed to the line with temptations of more deer, squirrels, neighbors and dogs. She has hound mixed in and a very strong prey drive so frankly I'm shocked this is working so well. So far so good!Units works exactly as reported. Default range from wire (set to 10) activates the collar precisely 5' from the wire thru my entire 750' run. Wire held up great- had no breaks even with the trencher often putting stress on the wire. I think the instructions are very good. I did not need to call their support line for anything. But one that that was confusing me for a while was the listing of the 3.different levels of dogs (timid, active, and I think hyper) and then the various shock level setting under each of those, but how do you select 'active" for instance. Eventually I noticed that "active" was written on my box's packaging label, so those are how the systems come and luckily the active one was the proper one for my size/type dog.So hopefully there's no letdown with the equipment or my dog starts breaching the fence. If anything like that happens I'll update this review, but right now I'm extremely please that I selected the Extreme brand dog fence. And bonus of made in USA. Thanks.***Update 4 months later*** Happy to report the system has continued to work great and the collar battery was still working after 4 full months. (but I could hear that the beep was weaker when I tested the collar today, so I'm replacing the battery now just to be safe. I hope the replacements last as long as the original!) My dog only breached the fence once in the 4 months, and that was shortly after installing it, when I think she "forgot" after seeing one of her dog friends being walked down the street. Hasn't left the yard since which is really impressive being the daily teasings she has of neighborhood dogs, deer, etc. Great that she can tear around our acre of yard freely, and we can take her less frequently to the dog park for exercise. Looking forward to the warmer weather and her hanging out with us on the patio without needing to be leashed. Happy customer, happy dog.

works and easy
wow. this was really easy to install. i did it myself around a half acre area, across a lawn, then 3 sides of wooded area and trees. so i had a lot of crawling along and pushing the wheel of wire. the wire that went in the woods and along the fence i did not bury, i just put rocks or stuff over it and put it along the fence. the front lawn the wire went in a line i dug in and then it went across the driveway via a crack we had in the right place LOLi put the box in my shed as its near an outlet and easy to get it in place there. i connected the wires and set up the first collar. i went around and checked the line, it works. its not a painful shock but a tickling shock. sort of like any electric fencing that is low. i took my small dog around and held the collar, let it beep and then shoved her back while showing her the line with flags. then i put the collar on her, let her get close, when it beeped she stopped then tried to get closer to get out of the yard, it buzzed her and she jumped back. since then she has respected the line of flags. the next dog is a big German Shepherd. he likes to jump the side fence to the neighbors side. in the front he will go down and happily greet everyone, even if the dont want a big dogs kisses. so... i took him around with the collar off, showed him the flag, let it beep and shoved him over. we went around doing this and then we put the collar on. when it beeped on him he looked at me, i motioned him to come back and he did. then we went around some more till he wanted to go too close and see what that flag was, zing, he ran right back to me. now, in one day he knows to avoid that flag zone. and if we are playing and his ball goes out of bounds, he will slowly walk over, hear the beep and stop. the beep tells him to come back away from that flag line. he is a smarty pants tho. but i have to say, i was able to do some gardening and not worry he will run into the neighbors yard anymore. he sat pleasantly by me while i worked. if he got too close to the fence and the collar beeped he backed up. this thing is great! this weekend i get to try it on dog #3 when she is over. she is a beagle that likes to just wander off and has no idea what her name is (rescue dog they just got recently)now, this wire is super heavy duty, i like that. we have all forms of wildlife in the back yard, dont want something to gnaw through a wire like they do my camera wires which are that soft feel squirrel like to chew on.i like how you can set how far the range of beep before the zap happens. i can give the dogs a good solid warning they can heed. I like that its waterproof and not just resistant. i like that the battery is not rechargeable. the one dog has a training collar that is never charged. i like the rubber tips to make it comfy on the dog. i like that the company sells other colors of collars to get (I will cut the purple one smaller to fit my small dog)I mostly like that now my dogs are contained even if i open a door and one gets out, my neighbors will never have to put up with my animals again. lets face it, its straining to have to pretend you love someones mutt coming over to your lawn, even if you clean up after them.... good fences make good neighbors and this is the best looking fence ever!i do have to add, my dog is the best behaved GSD ever! and customer service at the company that makes this is wonderful! do register your product right away, it even has Amazon as a place of purchase, its easy to do.

Quality product, excellent customer service
I have been using this system for my large black lab and stubborn golden retriever puppy. Working as expected. A few things:1. Set up is easy and instructions are clear but it will take you a weekend to get everything how you like it.2. The Canadian package from Amazon DOES NOT come with the surge protector even though the instructions say it does. I called their customer service line and they shipped me one free of charge.3. A motivated or stubborn dog (like the golden puppy) will run through the fence and take the shocks. Training is super important as he now will run forward instead of backward across the line and get 'stuck' on the other side. The fence will shock on reentry too after the safety period expires. This is most likely a training issue.4. The 14ga wire is robust and I have no issues about it breaking. Worth the extra cost imo5. Batteries for the 2 collars I have are running out already. Probably from the testing and training that needed to be done. I expect next batteries to last much longer. On this - replacement batteries are tough to find for Canadians and insanely expensive. Amazon ships them from Florida so you have to pay taxes and handling fees on top of the battery price. Locally I cannot find replacement batteries that aren't prohibitively expensive in BC. They are a weird and unique 6v battery but not the same size as a 6v you can buy for other electronic devices.I called customer service and spoke with Savannah from extremedogfence about the battery issue for Canadians. She said she would ship a couple complementary batteries to me free of charge (minus Canadian border handling fees etc) as their online Amazon.ca retailer doesn't have them in stock. Kudos Savannah, way to go above and beyond.6. The actual corrections range from gentle enough you can hold it in your hand and think "hmm not so bad" to the max setting where you cant hold on to the thing if it's correcting. Good range and not overly cruel.7. If you have a double coat dog yoh have to use the long probes. Each collar comes with both styles. It's imperative you have the collars tight. Worrying they're too tight will make the corrections ineffective. Tight seems mean but the dogs couldn't care less about the collars now. They wear them about 10hs a day and totally fine.8. Customer service is next level. I think this company markets their customer service and support for a reason... they're really nice. They will call you back. They will help you with whatever you need as I have seen in my 2 calls to them.If you're researching like I did and reading this review you can feel confident in this purchase. I will edit this review of anything changes as I relied on many reviews before purchasing and feel they are informative.

Great company and system!
We bought the pro system for our 5.5 acre acreage. We live beside a main road with a fair bit of traffic and were worried about our dog, a husky cross, running off or getting hit by a vehicle driving by. We have nothing but great things to say about the system itself and the support this company provides! Installation was quite easy, though abit time consuming because of the larger perimeter, and training of our dog went very well due to the provided instructions and support from the company. We love the fact that it is manufactured in the US and the ease of getting in touch with someone if we had any questions. They were always readily available and eager to help. They even sent us a replacement collar, which we chose to upgrade to the stubborn, for the cost difference from the original one we had purchased, after our dog “accidentally” chewed it! Melissa was very friendly and helpful! ! Our dog completely respects the warnings from the collar and we feel relieved that we don’t have to constantly worry about him now when he is outside and out of sight. We absolutely recommend this company and their products and are so thankful we invested in their system! Thank you Extreme Dog Fence for the peace of mind for our furry family member!

Outstanding Customer Service!
I’m very pleased with this product. It’s terrific, easy to install and hook up and works very well. What really makes this product worth 5stars is the amazing customer service. I called to get help when first connecting the collar and it was so positive. Recently I experienced an issue with a defective brand new battery and as such wasn’t able to have our husky out roaming. Reached out to the live chat and was helped immediately by I believe Melissa. So was quick and immediately understood that a brand new battery should work out of the box and proceeded to send me replacements no questions asked. Incredible!! This is how customer service should be handled with all companies.

Work
This product works 100% as it's designed to work. Comes with easy to follow installation instructions and full training instructions. I have a Red Nose Pitbull, she is not an aggressive dog but she all muscles and full of energy. When the installation was complete I thourghly read the step by step training instructions. I took the time and followed them to a tee. It wasn't long before she was running free on the property and staying within her boundaries. This is a fantastic commercial grade product and a great value for the money.

Good Product but Amazon's Canadian Customer Service really sucks!
We liked the product, but after review felt it would be difficult for us to install and that the battery type collars not having a way to recharge made this a large issue as well. The equipment looked well made. There is an issue in that the information on line says it comes with a surge protector and this is not true. If we had any complaint it would be with Amazon not the manufacturer. We were not aware that Amazon Canada was bringing this product in from the USA. When we wanted to return the product we then became aware that we were required to ship it back to the company who is in Florida. Our cost to return this product was $78. To add to this the company refused to sign for the item and after being delivered to their facility for a week they still had not issued a credit on my charge card. Subsequently I had to call Amazon and this was also an exercise in frustration just trying to get a phone number to call. Finally got a number for Customer Service. After 21 minutes on the phone I was assured that they would deal with the issue. I was not aware that this number was long distance to Seattle Washington. I live in Canada. I bought this on the Amazon Canada website. The call cost an additional $12 in long distance charges. Total cost to return the item was over $90 with tax. I am not impressed with Amazon. There should be little or no cost to return an item.
