The Gruffalo Sound Book Hardcover – 18 Oct. 2018

I bought this as a Christmas present for my nephew because at 2 years old, he hasn't shown much interest in books (even for the pictures), but responds to anything noisy! As this is my favourite children's book of the day, I just had to get it for him and I thought it was the perfect introduction to books and story telling.You just can't *not* love the story of the Gruffalo with its delicious rhymes and sly central character. I don't care what age you are! And it's just so easy for kids to follow that they just want to hear it again and again. It was a hit even with my wee nephew, and he (of course) loved the noises. I felt they enhanced the story quite nicely, although a lot of people seem to be saying they found it distracting.This is a resounding two thumbs up from me. ^^

A excellent book for my 5 year old!! She loves the the Gruffalo books and this just makes it that extra special!A good size too, not small at all. The book is just the same as the original, same gorgeous illustrations etc. Sounds are good too.And of course a bargain at that low price, elsewhere it's £12.99and more!!!!A great service from Amazon again..

This is my 2 years old current favourite. He loves the story and pressing the buttons himself to hear the sounds. The story and illustrations as lovely as you would expect. The sound buttons are a bit harder to press than other sound books and my son often needs help to press hard enough. The sounds themselves are not the most exciting (fox sniffing, owl hooting, tummy rumbling) but they make the story a bit more engaging. Pages inside the book are paper rather than being a board book throughout so can be easily ripped by an enthusiastic toddler!

This is a fab book for young children; the story is lovely, and the sound buttons are a great way of involving the child in the story-telling process. There are two activities at the back of the book for the child to try after they have finished the story. I loved this addition, as did my 3yr old son, as it introduces an interactive element to story time and promotes active listening.

My daughter is a real bookworm and she is only 20 months. She has gone past all the touchy feely books and one word books, which makes this perfect for her. She loves matching up the sounds to the story and is really happy to sit and listen to the whole story being read.I would highly recommend this book and in fact I would highly recommend any Julia Donaldson book!

Maybe I should have read the blurb or reviews more carefully as I thought this would be a board book. It isn't so the sound spots are hard to press to make it work and the pages will likely tear easily so not really suitable for children under 3 I would have thought. Having said that, if they will sit and listen to the story and don't get frustrated with not being able to make the sound, children will love this book.

I first came across the Gruffalo when my 12 year old son was younger and we both loved it. I now have an 18 month old niece and bought her this version for Xmas. And although she is perhaps a little young for it she already loves pressing the buttons and hearing the sounds. I know she will grow to love the story too and I completely recommend this version.

Our 2 and three quarter year old son loves this book. We bought it after he got so much joy from his Room on the Broom sound book.The rhyming format means that he's picked up and repeats the story quickly. He loves helping to tell it, so his vocabulary is improving all of the time.Such a great storyline too.

The sounds are good, the story is great. My 2 & 4 year old grandsons loved it. So did my 34 year old son.

great story and illustrations, the various sounds are also nice. Not as sturdy as the board books and I wouldn't buy it again for a 2-year old. The pages are thin and tear easily... every page is torn. Which just goes to show that it's a great book and that our little one loves it... but this version is better for kids who can handle delicate paper pages

Initially I thought I received a damaged product since sound buttons were not working, even tried after changing battery position. I was wrong it did work after few more flip- flaps with battery position and cover.It is very good book, kids love this.

One of the buttons did not work upon arrival. We love this book and the sounds make it fun. British spelling (favourite) which isn't a big deal, just wasn't expecting it.
