Random House Webster's Concise American Sign Language Dictionary

I love this book, it is a great size, I like the images and descriptions and that it is alphabetical. It was a good deal for the price!

It was a very good dictionary. It contains many signs, and has many of the related signs connected on their entries. For new learners the signs can be a little hard to follow if you have no understanding of ASL handshapes and general movements. But otherwise, it is without complaints in that department. I was able to follow and understand all the signs perfectly with no complaints. But to test it's clarity I have given it to people with no explanation or background in ASL, told them to choose a sign, and I'd guess what it was. About 50% of the time they would sign it correctly, 40% of the time they would sign it and I would still be able to guess what they were signing, and the last 10% I had to ask them what they were trying to say.My only con would be that there are signs/words missing. Of course, it's impossible to fit all the sings/words into a single book, and it would also be an exhaustive work for any illustrator.

Very informative product. However, the print and photos are too small for someone to read that has low vision. Please consider enlarging both the text size and photos in the next edition of the book. Thank you.Random House Webster's Concise American Sign Language Dictionary

Amazing

Received November 22, 2020.Flipped through and took pictures to show the neat designs and simple explanations. Will update later on how it helps me personally.

This Dictionary was recommended by the ASL high school teacher. It is exactly what was expected for a paperback. Cheaper and Easier to carry around than the larger size from the bookstore. May be difficult for some people to read if text size is an issue.

This dictionary has a good concise introduction and lots of general and slang terms used. However, it would be very hard for people to read with even slight visual problems since the print is so tiny. The words in bold and descriptions of terms are good, but some are a little difficult for people to understand without any background in sign language. I would recommend this book for those who just need a quick reference to most words in general use because it is light and therefore easy to carry around, but have another book with larger print for sight impaired people.

I will recommend it to anyone who is deaf/ hard of hearing and want to learn sign language to be able to understand it and develop an additional skill set which is a must in today's world. It will definitely help me learn additional sign languages.
