Amazing tech for the price
Update: since writing the review below, an update is in order. Firstly the battery life has improved dramatically after a week of charge cycles, probably the percentage indicator is now properly calibrated. The following settings leave me with 60% charge after 12 hours normal use (lots of notifications and time checking):backlight: mediumsleep timeout: 30sraise to wake: offWifi: onBT: onpedometer: onGPS: offSecondly, I have solved the Bluetooth disconnection problem. When pairing from scratch, the watch and phone will both show a six digit number and each will ask if you want to pair. Say yes on the watch but tap Cancel on the iPhone. The reason for this is that the BT protocol used by the watch app on the phone is non-iOS standard. As soon as iOS gets involved it disconnects the BT connection, presumably because the watch is not speaking 'proper' iOS BT protocol. Using this method it has stayed connected for 2 days without a dropout.Upgraded from 4 to 5 stars.Original review is below.---All in all a great (and fun) gadget which is well worth the asking price, but there are some caveats...Pros:- Lovely sharp screen with a wide colour gamut.- Great feature set (GPS, WiFi, accelerometers, camera etc).- Good software (Android 7.0, can add apps via the Play Store). Google maps, web browser etc. Runs Plex.- Can act as a standalone phone when a SIM card is inserted.- 1GB "ROM" (aka RAM) and 16GB "RAM" (aka persistent storage) is excellent.- Easy to add new watch faces.- Cheap for what you get.Cons:- Battery life is poor. I estimate that each minute the screen is on uses about 1% of the battery, more if running a CPU intensive app. If constantly playing with the features of the watch (as you do when you get a new gadget), you'll be lucky to get much more than an hour from it. On the positive side, it uses very little while sleeping. If you use it just to tell the time and look at the occasional notification and some light app use, it can be made to last all day.- It keeps dropping the Bluetooth connection with my iPhone X, even when they are kept in close proximity. The watch reports that it is connected but it is not (the phone watch app says no, and no notifications come through). I have to restart the watch and re-pair it, which takes about 45s. This happens 3 or 4 times a day. Other times, when the phone and watch have been apart, they pair up with each other automatically when brought back together. Perhaps a firmware update will fix it. My watch arrived with the latest firmware (you can update it using the watch itself over wifi).
