This was a really short read...
This is the fourth book in the Magisterium series; five books are planned for this series. This was a short but good continuation of the Magisterium series. I felt like this was more of a novella than a full length novel. It's just over 200 pages and I read it in one 2hr sitting.Call has been imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. His friends come to his rescue but when another Chaos mage gets involved Call ends up in even more trouble than he started in.Fans of the series should be pleased. The ending was the best part; something huge happens and sets things up nicely for the final book in the series.Overall this was a good, but not great, addition to the Magisterium series.

A good addition to the series
First of all, the book arrived in good condition. There were a few very tiny scratches on the back cover but I suspect that was because it was shipped in a box with other items I had ordered. As for the book itself, this is my third time rereading the series and it never gets boring. While short and somewhat of a 'filler' book of the series, The Silver Mask remains my second favorite of the series after The Bronze Key. 5 stars, would recommend for anyone at a middle school or above reading level.

10/10, would read again.
Way to end this one, Holly black. Way. To. End it. I have to say I've really enjoyed these books. And ever since I picked the first one up at the local book fair, I knew this was going to be a good one. And that expectation, it never was failed to be met. This series of books amazes me with its compelling story that clings to your leg and won't let go. Especially with this last one, where i was blown away by the book alone. We just have one question to ask ourselves, how much longer will it go on? Will we be left to speculate what will happen for a bit and have our hungry stomachs fed after so long? When a story makes you want to theorize, that's when you know you hit gold. And I have to conclude it with a strong, bold statement. This book is just amazing and so are all the others.

Fantastic
*****************SPOILERS********************I'm loving this series more and more! I love the twists that Call has Constantine's soul then Aaron gets killed and then Call goes to prison. Now Call has to follow the path that he has so tried to avoid and raise Aaron from the dead and truly become the enemy of death! Once he has he becomes betrayed by his closet friends while he tries to fix Aaron all the while having to hide from the assembly who want him dead! To top if off Alex becomes a devoured with all the power of the void behind him and Aaron secretly in Calls head! So excited for the next one!

Darker than the previous books
The Silver Mask is the fourth installment in the Magisterium series and it continues to deliver shocking twists and turns in each volume. I don't read a lot of middle grade stories, but this one hooked me from the very beginning. Everything in this book was a lot darker than in the previous books. So much happened in this book, there was a lot of character development, and a lot of questions were answered, yet we are left with even more questions. I am excited to see how it all ends in the fifth and final book!

These two aspects alone do not make this series perfect in any way and does not hide its flaws ...
The fourth book in the Magisterium series is probably the darkest yet. It opens several months after The Bronze Key cliffhanger and takes off from there. I do have to praise this series for two things, its characters and its fast paced plots. These two aspects alone do not make this series perfect in any way and does not hide its flaws because their are some. However for being a middle grade series it is quite entertaining. I have so much fun reading this series and I cannot wait to see how everything wraps up in the conclusion to be released next year!!

Hold on to your hair - this is one wild ride
I find I can't stop once I've started with these books. Entertaining, fast paced, with enough twists and turns to make the reader feel like they're right in the thick of it.

Great Combination of authors.
When you combine Holly Black and Cassandra Clare, you get a totally new level of writing. The narrative flows, it's tight, fast-moving, funny and totally enthralling.I would hazard a guess that this combination of authors could take over from JK Rowling.
