Better and Better
I first reviewed this album when it was just released all those years ago… it’s now 12 years since it came out and I can honestly say it gets better and better. It’s an album I can return to after a year or so and hear something new/better each time… I do love both artists - indeed I saw Metallica way back in 1984 in the UK. I think they match each other perfectly and it’s like Reed found his ultimate backing band late in the day: who knows what else they might have created? For me, this is Metallica rediscovering the same artistic creativity that saw them as metal pioneers in the mid 80s - something they lost from the early 90s onwards. As an album it never bores, never seems too familiar & always seems to surprise - there are very very that I’ve listened to which have that creativity and longevity. #chapeau Lou et al…

For the Lou Reed/Metallica obsessive !
I love Lou Reed's music and have done for years. This album has been much derided but I like it a lot. I decided to buy this poster version out of interest for the contents not available elsewhere. I also must say that I found it being sold relatively cheap. When it arrived I was rather shocked at the huge size of the tube as the scale hadn't been very clear from the photos. It gave me a laugh anyway ! The tube is about four foot long and the poster's width is also four foot, so you'd need a fair sized wall to hang it on. The three photos of Lou Reed and Metallica have a nice feel about them and they'd be ideal for framing. The card board CD sleeve is different from the standard release as are the printed faces of the two CDs. All in all it's an interesting package but a bit impractical !

Getting better each time I listen
When LULU first came out, it seemed only Lou Reed admirers appreciated the enormous potential of this album. And off-course Lou Reed and ALL the members of Metallica. Watching interviews with Lou and Metallica made some of us understand how much this project meant to them, and made me personally spend a great deal of time listening to the lyrics and the music. I slowly have the feeling that more and more people are getting into this record and I am convinced that this album will become a classic (after its time) in the same way that BERLIN did.The LULU Ltd package is gigantic in every sense of the word. A poster large enough to cover a wall, excellent photographs of Lou and Metallica, and off-course the CD (which I already had). For all the people who bought this album, played the first track, and put the CD back into its cover. Get the CDs out again. Listen. Listen. Listen. You will be surprised how good LULU really is.

Great limited edition set
I love Lulu the album but this review is just about the contents of the limited edition tube. The tube itself is a thing of beauty and displays well standing at 124x13cm. The poster is huge at 120x160cm-I would have liked it double sided with the lyrics only printed on one side but this is not a major issue. The CDs are the same as the limited CD/book edition and are housed a very nice fold out digipak with excellent artwork. The three Anton Corbjin prints are B&W,50.8cm square and are of a quality that would justify the cost of framing. At the current price of £25 this is worth buying even if you have the CD.

A heart rending original. Excellent.
Truly original. Brilliant. Experimental. Like Allen Ginsburg with a metal backtrack. I hope Reed and Metallica are very proud of this project. If you allow it’s roots to take hold, it’ll stay with you forever.

sure aint bad
I really like most of this album a lot and I often come back to it and really enjoy it and it spends the whole evening whizzing round and round in my cd player the only aspect of it is one particular track where Lou is a little to self indulgent for his own good but given that the rest of the album is supurb it's very forgivable

Velvet Metal!

excellent
this is one of the most interesting and beautiful pieces of mus i have ever bought . i've seen lou reed live several times in the last twenty years ... never seen metallica.... i wish they would tour the haters just want to listen to steely dan,boz scaggs and bonnie who i love too. if one is a true music lover you should be ready to walk the tight rope with the artists.... if you own this play it for someone .... if you are a dj on some hayseed npr rock affiliate hoping for world cafe stardom .... grow a pair and play lulu in prime time...
