Not accurate
I returned it. It seems well made and solid but the gauge was not accurate. I have a lighter trailer with about 50lbs of tongue weight when empty. With my trailer attached and me (190lbs) standing on top of the ball the gauge still read less than 100lbs. I tried cleaning it and lubricating the ball but it was still not reading correctly. It isn't useful if it can't read correctly, might as well use a non measuring hitch at less than half the price. The advertising also list the GTW capacity at 12500Lbs, but the 2" square hitch and larger 2-5/16 ball are stamped 10000lbs. There isn't any part of the kit that would support a 12500lbs trailer.

Warranty issues
Purchased this rather expensive 4" drop hitch primarily because when reading the description and the information in the "size" drop down box I expected a lifetime warranty on the gauge. If something is going to fail; I expect it will be the gauge. After receiving the hitch, I was pleasantly surprised with the apparent quality of the unit. All was well until I read the paperwork that came with it. The gauge only has a one year warranty. Further, when I went to register the product on the manufacturer's website, proof of purchase was required, and the proof had to be from one of the files on my computer. Don't know how other folks do this, but my "receipt" is from Amazon and is not a document or picture on my computer. Probably would not have bought this hitch knowing then what I do now. That said, it seems to be ok. Expensive with a (limited) limited warranty, but ok.

After one month, It does tarnish and the recieved lock rusts
So as you can see by the photos, and those are after superficial cleaning it looks pretty rough after just one month. I got this thing thinking it could just stay on my truck but I don't think that is the case. After just one month I could not get the receiver lock off. A day of spraying wd40 and tapping it finally got it lose. The key portion was fine and looked new, but the internal with the locking bearings where corroded and stuck. I scrubbed the inside with wd40 but it still looks bad and I am worried if I leave it on the truck it will need to be cut off next time. I will try using friction tape around the lock to keep out moisture to see if that helps, it will suck to have to replace the lock because I bought this because of the key match to the adjustment lock. Now to the adjustment portion. The rods look badly tarnished and the image above are them after I tried to scrub it clean. I don't think those pins are stainless, I will need to look into a metal cleaner. The pin retaining the stainless steel ball also looks as bad. The lock for the adjustment pins was in perfect shape probably because the cover does a great job protecting it. It is a shame that the cover is not tethered to the lock so that you don't lose it inevitably.Overall I am a little disappointed because I thought this unit would out last me truck lol but it's clear it won't. Locks should have non corrosive internals and all locking pins should have been stainless steel.

Wasn't sure about this, but wanted to try it - NOT WORTH THE MONEY
Very well built, machined from solid piece of aluminum, matching locking collars on drop hitch and shank is great for ease of use. I bit expensive compared to a standard 6" drop hitch - but worth the money.Been towing and trailering for 25+ years, and I know how to load, and every now and then manage to find myself very fish-tail heavy as the items I have loaded just don't quite fit into the trailer I'm using that day. Currently I have 3 trailers and the ease to raise/lower the drop is fantastically simply and secure. Lock it and know its not going anywherePerfect example in the photo of a typicla unbalanced load - very tail heavy - 13 fresh cut wet cedar tree trunks I'm using for posts on a cabin porch I'm building. Wet Cedar is HEAVY, and these 4-6" between 12'6" up to -14'8" in a 10' trailer show that my back end was heavy and I knew it would be once I loaded up. The scale on the ball hitch allowed me to (here is the important part) "confidently know" when the load was balanced by adding logs to the front of my trailer..... The scale told me I was fine based on load weight estimate and what I could read on tongue weight. The 55 mile drive home on highway I had no issues and no rear end swinging around due to poor load management (guessing). AS I often rough mill lumber, this is a game changer for me when I have boards/trunk longer than my trailer capacity.FOr a few extra dollars, I have safety on the road when I know I'm loading something I shouldn't be loading. Can't wait to drive my Kubota up on my 16' trailer and just drive forward/baclkward depending on what Implements I'm bringing that day. I have marks on the floor of my trailer now and they wear off all the time and I've been guessing by how the load rode - AFTER I drove it. Nice to KNOW before I get on the highway going forward7/26/2021UPDATE - after less than 2 years of towing various loads - I really loved this product. TILL the scale completely stopped working. It just stays at ZERO - I have no idea if my hitch weight is proper or not, and go "old school" and drive my tractor on till the rear end of my truck drops... Wonder why I paid so much for a scale now.... Emailed the company to see what they can do for me. Right now I'm grossly disappointed in myself for spending the extra money on this product over a standard hitch1/10/2022 2nd UPDATEAfter hitch scale failed (1 year warranty) 16 months from purchase, the company sent me replacement parts for the scale, which took me some time to swap out - these parts did not work either & I have now wasted time and money on this very expensive hitch. Multiple emails asking for help have not ended in resolution as of yet. Save your money, if it fails, you will be left with an expensive aluminum hitch instead of saving $200 and just buying a steel hitch in the first place.

Highly recommend
I was skeptical but after towing my car trailer from nc to wv, picked up a truck and towed it back to nc I couldn't be more happy. It made it very easy to know when I had the truck loaded correctly for tongue weight which made for an easy pull without excessive trailer sway or the rear of my pull truck bouncing up and down. This hitch makes your trailer so much safer especially pulling through the mountains like I just did. In addition I had no clunking from the hitch which was a plus. Its easy to set up and i was able to quickly and easily adjust my hitch height empty then loaded to keep my trailer level.

Scale not working but good otherwise
The built in scale never worked. I don't know who to contact for warranty. I used it for the first time this weekend and hooked up a trailer with a ATV and the balance is still at 0 lbs. The drop hitch part is pretty good but I did pay extra to get that scale and I am disappointed that it marks 0. I tried booking my 20' fiberglass boat and I still get nothing in that scale.Update: I cleaned it and oiled it good. The sale now works. I put anti seize oil in it from time to time

Solid !!!
Feels like my car is an addition to the hitch . It is a solid piece , it justifies the price tag!!!I wasn’t sure to pay $500 for it but once it came on the car, I can’t take it off!!Think about it as a one time buy
