An alert on my phone indicated my Rug Doc had arrived. I opened the front door to find it not in a delivery box but in the badly damaged original store box. It made me suspect the unit may have been used or refurbished. I opened it up and it appeared to be brand new. This is definitely a far superior model than the ones they rent out from our local Home Depot. It makes that other version look like a childs push vacuum. I like how sturdy and well assembled it is. This thing looks and feels really hard to break unless you dropped it out of a two story window. The usage is idiot proof. It hardly requires the instruction manual. I was able to plug it In and turn it on straight out of the box. It has very easy to use tanks with lift handles. One for filling it with water. The other one for emptying out the dirtied water. Its really that simple. No filters that need to be cleaned. Just two simple tanks suctioning water.I should explain the place I moved into was and still is a dump. I moved into a crappy apartment in a nice area. The guy I share the apartment with is kind of a slob but I get my own spacious bedroom with a huge closet and private bathroom in a great area which is hard to come by for the price. Did I mention I get my own private off street parking spot? I agreed to move the guys exes belongings out and prep the bedroom to move in.So anyways I moved in and have been living here with my two small dogs. The place was a disaster when I moved in. Me and a girlfriend had to pack up the dudes ex girlfriends crap. It took us two days to get everything boxed up and to clean up the mess. The carpet looked like it had been barfed on pissed on and everything else you can think of. I rented a Rug Doc the more expensive child like version and cleaned it with that. The carpet turned out ok. Still lots of stains through.Just recently I picked up this sucker. Just because the guy keeps the rest of the place in bad shape doesn't mean my room can't be immaculately clean. I can tell you using this Rug Doc with water mixed with a little distilled white vinegar the carpet looks unbelievly brand new. I couldn't believe it. From an old condemned filthy cream colored stained carpet to looking brand feaking new. I have to say I'm impressed. The only thing thats bothersome is the size of the tank and constantly having to pull it out to refill it. I wish I could just open a lid and pour water in without removing the tank. Its so super easy to do. It just gets annoying after a while. Besides that this thing gets results. Just be sure to use a vacuum to get up any debree before you use this to clean the carpet. This is a solid machine.

I'm very happy with this machine!
I just got my new carpet cleaner last week and yesterday cleaned the upholstery on my dining chairs and it did a fantastic job with just the upholstery tool. Today I did my bedroom carpet and the cleaner just paid for itself. It cleaned so well that the carpet almost looks brand new. I thought I was going to have to replace it. Not so! I have a Bissell and have always used Bissells since I have been buying my own carpet cleaners. They always did a fair job but not a fantastic one like this one does. I am so glad I ordered this one!The Pros: I had read all the reviews and wanted to try a different carpet cleaner to see if I could save my carpets. They are not that old and should not be this bad but I have pets and grandkids galore running through my house constantly and my dog got sick a couple of times on my carpet and he's an older dog and has had some accidents. When I tried to clean them up with the Bissell, they did not come up. The Rug Doctor took up all the old stains and everything my Bissell left behind with one pass! I was amazed! With the Bissell I would have to take many passes and it still did not take the stains and dirt up. The jury is still out on how fast my carpets will dry but if they take longer than overnight I would be surprised. If they do I will let you know, but the cleaner took up so much of the cleaning solution, I just don't think there could be that much left in the rug. The Bissell left residue on my carpets and it was sticky so dirt would stick to it and when you walked on it, any dirt or anything on your feet, slippers, your shoes or your socks would stick to it and it was dirty again within a couple of weeks. With pets and grandkids going through the house, you can imagine what it looked like. Awful! When I cleaned my chair cushions, they were dry in two hours! With the Bissell they would have taken two days and left a residue. I feel no residue at all on my cushions. The Cons:1. The tanks are a bit small. You have to empty the dirty solution tank and refill the clean solution tank way too frequently, but at least they are easy to fill and easy to empty and clean. I'll trade for cleaner carpets any day!2. I read one of the reviews that the cord was hard to wrap up because the hooks you wrap them around are too close to the place the cord comes out of the handle. This is true, but they really aren't all that bad. The part that comes out of the handle swivels out of your way for wrapping the cord, so it's not a big deal to me.3. The cleaner has no edge cleaning feature, and it doesn't clean the edges of the carpet so well, so I suppose I will have to get down on my knees and clean the edges with the upholstery cleaner and that's a big deal for me as I am getting older and am disabled. It's very hard for me to get down on the floor and back up due to my disabilities. It's very painful and not sure if I'm going to be able to do it safely. In conclusion, in spite of the few cons that this cleaner has, I would buy it again if I needed to. The pros far outweigh the cons. My Bissell is going to the dump and I'm really very happy with this machine!
