Not even getting warm...
I use this item to extend PC storage during permanent use. This adapter sticks out less than an inch, which was very important for me as I use it on mini PC. 1TB SD card works perfectly with this adapter. After 5 minutes intensive data transmission it got barely warm. The data transmission speed depends mostly on the quality of SD card. With my SanDisk 1TB I got 130 MB/s or read, and 95 MB/s on write.

The only adapter that works with Tesla Dashcam/Sentry
i’ve been trying to replace the factory USB drive on my Tesla (for dashcam and sentry video recording) with a microSD card and adapter. I literally tried FIVE different adapters, from USB 2.0 to 3.2, including the one listed as Amazon's Choice, and the Tesla gave error messages about slow speed with every single one of them. I was on the verge of giving up, until I read about this SanDisk MobileMate on a Tesla forum and decided to give it a try.No errors!! I wish it had a USB-C end for my laptop, but thankfully I have five spare adapters to choose from, all of which work fine with my laptop. No idea why Tesla is so picky, but if you are in the same boat, skip the others and just buy this to begin with.

Works great for GoPro micro SD cards
This is perfect for reading micro SD cards if you don't happen to have one of those adapters. Just plug it in and you can select which photos or videos you want to open and view. We used this to view photos taken with a GoPro camera, which uses a micro SD card. Easy to use, fits USB-A port on laptop or computer.

Works for what I needed
It works for the most part, I kind of have to press the microSD into it a bit hard to get it to read. Other than that, it works as intended.

This unit is so flaky that I'll now need to purchase something else.
This card reader is rarely recognized by the PC. I thought it was just a problem with plugging it into the hub on my monitor or another hub on my desktop, so I plugged it directly into my PC and it seemed to work. Now, one day after using it successfully to backup an SD card it won't even recognize the reader when plugged into the very same USB port on the PC. First it will pop up a Windows Explorer window making me think it worked, but before I can do anything with that Explorer window it disappears/closes. Then the next time I plug in the reader it pops open a blank window and says "Please insert a disk into Removable Disk (I:). Almost as if the Sandisk card reader can't see the Sandisk SD card. This is infuriating! $10 down the drain... after I successfully backed up one SD card I threw away the packing it came in, so no return possible. Thanks for nothing, Sandisk.***A few hours later and I'm not sure it was all the fault of the card reader. Everytime I plugged it in with a Samsung SD card it worked, using the new Sandisk card I'd just purchased things got as described above. I decided that for some reason the card wasn't being fully seated when I pushed it into the slot, or that the card was a little on the thin side so it was moving inside the reader and losing contact. I slid a small piece of paper in with the card a voila, it worked. No more connection problems. So, the issue may lay with the Sandisk micro SD card, not the Sandisk reader.
