Mary Stewart King Arthur 5 Books Collection Set Magical Merlin The Crystal Cave (Merlin Trilogy)

These books look like they will be a wonderful collection for my husband for Christmas. I haven't read them myself, but I have heard from others that this is a wonderful series.

Arthur, Merlin, and other characters are brought to life in a most fascinating & magical way! I wish there were more!

This is not a fantasy wizard story, but a realistic and believable account of the way Merlin and his surrounding characters probably were, based on historical theories rather than fantasy. However, Stewart not only has you believing Merlin was a real person, but a true larger-than-life figure.For example, there are moments where Merlin passes out and is told later that he started prophesying. In Stewart's notes, this is based on the idea of hallucinogenic reaction to a seizure. (This actually happened to me in real life. I'm epileptic.)

Books were in great shape but in the ad on Amazon it looked like they would come in a case. Love the books.

I'm really wanting to re-read these but they're not available for Kindle.Come on, Amazon, these are classics (and the best retelling of the Arthurian Legend, actually set in the correct time period), get the publisher to make them available in a Kindle Edition!

I would like to read these books but rarely buy physical books anymore. Once they're available for my Kindle I'll buy the set. Thank you!

Mary has written a version of the Merlin Trilogy of books which is a joy to read. A fictional story that has been well researched fitting in true historical fact as much as possible. Where she has deviated from the normal legend as we know it today, she has told us where the characters and places she has invented at the end of every book.A most enjoyable read.

I first read these when I was about 12 but decided to give them a reread. 40 years later they still hold the magic that I found the first time round. Not many books appeal to when you are a child and still appeal when you are (much) older. I know I am seeking different aspects of the story now but still magical.

Read the first three books many years ago. Enjoyed them then, and they are still just as enthralling. Have started again from beginning. Wasn't aware of the last to books in the series. Watching the DVD's got me back into Merlin. Hard to put down once started.

I have only read the first book but I`m very very pleased with the purchase. I adore fantasy and mythical stories and if that`s your cup of tea, you won`t be disappointed.

I read the first 2 books in this series many years ago. I'm delighted to have the set now, so I'm looking forward to catching up with it.
