So. I need to start by saying I have used this brand and color for years. I mean like…at least the past 15-20 years. I’ve never had an issue and it’s been the best black hair dye.I don’t know if it’s a bad batch or what but I won’t use it again. Not only did the color not stick for the first time—it literally destroyed my ends. I haven’t been able to color it for months and months because of how awful my hair became. I’ve had to use expensive shampoo, conditioner and hair serum to get it looking okay. It was the worst frizzy mess. I won’t risk this dye again. I don’t know it was just a bad box or if they changed the formula but it’s not worth it. My roots didn’t even change color this time—never an issue I had before.

this is going to be a long and in depth review!this product is good if you want to dye your hair black as less as possible and also have it last long. however, do not make the same mistake as me. this is PERMANENT (it says it in the name i know, i skimmed over it) i dyed my hair half black/ half blue in october 2021, then i used 40 vol bleach in january to dye my hair pink, it barely lifted at all. i still haven’t been able to lift it. if you’re indecisive with hair color and don’t want black for 6+ months i suggest you go with another black hair dye. (or, of course, get it done professionally) i regret using this dye so much, it has ruined my pink hair and made it blotchy. (as seen in the photos below) besides that, if you aren’t indecisive and also read the name clearly you should be good! the scent is amazing, and the conditioner lasted me a while (makes your hair sooo soft!!) it definitely bleeds for a while in the shower after using it but not for a ridiculous amount of time, it will definitely stain your bathtub so i recommend using a stainless steel sink to wash it out. (also my hair is super oily in these photos but i didn’t feel like washing it before writing this review lol, and ignore my roots. as i said i’ve had this pink for about a month, & yes. i’ve left my hair blotchy for a month) this is just my personal experience with using this dye! your hair journey may be different from mine and this might be perfect for u!

The decent packaging and the large tube of conditioner were the only things about this hair color I liked. I recently developed a very dry, itchy scalp and decided to switch out some products - dye being one. I'm a natural blonde who dyes her hair black. This dye didn't take. My hair flat rejected it. It rinsed out easier than shampoo. The water ran clear in thirty seconds as opposed to a couple of minutes. The smell was horrific, which didn't really help. The only thing I liked was the large tube of conditioner that made my hair feel nice. I'll stick to Revlon. They've never failed me.

The first time I got this was from a brick and mortar store. It smelled amazing and the smell lingered for days. This one didn’t have that same smell, it may have been old. It worked just as well but I missed the amazing smell.It’s a very natural black color, it lasts long, and the conditioner that comes in the box is a miracle. Literally made my hair go from straw to silk in one second, right after rinsing out the dye. Highly recommend the product, but maybe get it from a store.
