This is a very clearly written guide and workbook for learning retail planning basics. It covers industry terminology and calculations, leading the reader through exercises in how to build a plan using Excel. If you complete the workbook then you will truly understand all the components which will give you a solid foundation for retail planning.If you're beyond the basics then this isn't the book you're looking for and that should be obvious from the book description.But for anyone else starting out with little or no knowledge of planning this would be very helpful. If you're starting your own business or you're in merchandising and need to learn more about planning or you're in allocation and want to move into planning, this can help you.

This book needs a serious* edit. Most important: The 6-month plan is defective and users will see this while trying to perform Assignment Two. I advise professors to not use this textbook for their classes unless they have an alternative 6-month plan for their students to complete.On the other hand, the text is a stepping stone for merchandise planning as far as terminology and formulas.

Great for someone new to the biz. Explains simple concepts and simple calculations. Great for someone seeking a buying/planning foundation.

Speaks to the basics of planning. Good starter read.

As someone who is starting out in the retail planning field, this is a huge time saver for me. I caneasily create planning excel worksheets that make sense without trying to reinvent the wheel. Now, I'm able to create and analyze my sales data with ease.

For a $68.00 book, I was expecting a book with more substance. It was a book of very basic merchandising concepts. If you are just getting into merchandise plannning, this book is okay. But if your are intermediate or advanced planner. This book is not for you!!!

Needed the book for school so no complaints!

The book is really too simple. It would be useful to people who have no experince in merchandsing or are studying merchandising for the first time.

Un ottimo libro per chi approccia il merchandising per la prima volta e vuole una guida passo passo per utilizzare excel nel lavoro di planning. Sono presenti degli esercizi guidati da completare su excel e delle brevi descrizioni accademiche delle formule e delle terminologia utilizzata. Manca forse un approfondimento su alcuni strumenti e su tecniche avanzate, ma da' delle solide basi per principianti o per chi voglia esercitare le proprie conoscenze teoriche.
