Q: Can this be used on horsehide leather jackets?

Yes it can , with great effect. horsehide is a bit more porous than leather so it will eat it up. I use it on my messenger ( Bally ) bag and it lasts for more than a year. This is the best shoe polish in the world, you will not be sorry. 1 tin lasts a long time. also they sell a leather restoration cream that does magic for leather jackets. Good luck. Saphir makes the Medaille d'Or wax polish in 11 colors. They make the cream polish in more colors. They make a burgundy and several shades of brown.

Q: Is the container twist to tighten or is there a notch to open it like the kiwi ones?

Notch with opener like the kiwis containers.

Q: How the heck do you get the lid off?? I've tried everything.

It is the same as a can of saddle soap—use two fingers under the lid lip and gently pull at multiple spots along the lip. Eventually you’ll be able to pull it off. The upside of a tight fit is that the polish won’t tend to dry in the can as other polishes do.
