LIGHT IT! By Fulcrum, 20038-107 600L LED Porch Light, Bronze, Single pack

Bought the 12 LED version of this unit a year ago and it worked perfectly for one year. It was outside in the rain and snow without difficulty and was very easy to mount on our wooden side molding over our porch door. It's also easy to adjust the angle and to remove for (rare) battery change. We got 6 months out of a set of 4 new alkaline D batteries, and more than 6 months out of the next set. It worked absolutely perfectly for about a year and we loved it. Then, as with other reviewers, it just came on and stayed on. I tried cleaning the motion sensor area, and changing out the batteries. I let it sit unpowered for a week, as sometimes electronics will reboot, but no help. Because we loved this thing so much and it worked perfectly for so long and all of the similar units get terrible reviews, we gave in and ordered this new 16 LED version. It slipped right onto the prior unit's mounting ring. So far after one month or so, it continues to work perfectly and the extra LEDs make it even more bright. The motion sensor range is ideal for us, and it's daytime shut off functions flawlessly. If I get a year out of this one I'll be happy. At less than $1/ week for the job it does, far cheaper than having an electrician run power to this difficult location.

The light is bright, and, when it works, does a great job.We've had this for about 4 months now. For 3 months, it worked as it should. About a month ago, it just started turning itself on, almost constantly, with no motion present. Blew through a set of D batteries in no time. Definitely not happy with this change in operation. Of course, once the problem started, we were past the return period, unfortunately, so I think we're stuck. Noticing other users have had the same issue.Just something to be wary of, if you consider buying this light.

The light was easy to install, and it performed well in the indoors staircase for about 10 days. Then it proceeded to turn on and off by itself; turn off when a person is passing by or not come on at all. We cleaned the cover, checked for possible triggers and nothing.

Update: User error !! aka I_D_O-T errorI checked it out further. Found that a small string of Xmas lights in a bush was enough light to stop the light from turning on after dark. Moved the lights and works perfectly.I have an earlier version (6 led light) of this light. Has worked very well for over a year. Installed this one, everything seemed fine for a day or two then the light stopped working. Got a ladder took the unit down, replaced the batteries. Light seemed to work fine when I tested in a dark closet. Re-installed thinking I must have had bad batteries. The next evening I noticed the light would not come on. Getting the ladder out and setting it up is a hassel as I have to navigate the plants and be in an awkward position when taking it down is not something I look forward to. I am very disappointed, especially since the earlier model has worked perfectly.

We had 4 of these lights that worked well for quite a while but eventually, once they came on from something in motion, they started lighting on and off in succession all through the night -- and not because of motion. We decided to buy another to start over, and when we received that one, it was defective and did not work at all. (yes, I tried two different sets of new batteries). Since they had been good for us before, we didn't give up and asked for a replacement rather than money back. The replacement came right away and must have been from the same bad batch. We did not ask for another replacement!IF you're lucky, these lights are great. Sadly, we won't be trying them again unless we see them locally and can have a simple return if we get a lemon.

This light is installed on the side of our garage to shine on the lawn at night when movement is detected. We have the same Fulcrum light on the peak of our shed except it has less led light cells and it does a great job. We have had that one for 3 years. So easy to install and changed batteries once every 1 1/2 years. Very good quality, looks nice and never a problem.

I have four of these lights, all are little over a year old. Two of them are mounted under an overhanging roof on my shed and function as advertised. Plenty bright and sensitive motion detection. But lately the two mounted on the side of my house outside my kitchen are malfunctioning. They appear to activate with no motion, at least no motion that I can see. They stay on for several minutes or longer, shut off for a minute or two, and then turn themselves back on for no apparent reason.We do have small animals in the area but they never activate the units mounted on my shed.And the critters LIVE under the shed. I'm beginning to wonder if the units can pick up motion from within my house. Or maybe they're just messing with me. Go figure.UpdateTo confirm my suspicion and rule out anything externaly activating them, I brought them into a darkened basement and aimed them at a wall. They continue to self cycle on and off, on and off ... . Guess it's time to do an autopsy to see what makes them tick.Update 2I ordered two new units as replacements. One arrived DOA and is going back to be replaced by a replacement replacement. Ugh! I installed the second one and it's operating as advertised. For how long? I guess we'll find out.Update 3Good news - Bad news. The replacement replacement arrived today. It was DOA. Tested it with two known good sets of batteries that worked in another unit. Doesn't light up. I'm sending it back for a replacement for the replacement replacement. Wish me luck!Last UpdateOne of the last two working units from my original purchase a year ago is now malfunctioning. Light comes on for 40-seconds goes off for five. Comes on for 40 seconds off for five. I'm very disappointed as these lights seemed to be the ideal solution for my needs on the end of a private dead-end road with no street lighting. They are plenty bright and the motion sensor is sensitive enough to pick up any motion in the vicinity. Droping my rating from two stars to one. If you need a battery powered motion detector light, don't buy this one.
