Eyewitness Crystal & Gem: Admire the Beauty and Versatility of Crystals and Gems―from Their Use in Elegant (DK Eyewitness)

Purchased this book for my 10 year old grandson who is very interested in gemstones and where they come from. Also purchased two other books for him that were more geared toward adults. He is an avid reader and wise beyond his years. I honestly thought that he would be more interested in the other gemstone books. This is his favorite and I think it is because of all the illustrations. Perhaps too, the font is larger and the way it is presented in the book, it is great information that is not overwhelming to a younger person.

I gave this to my niece for her 8th birthday and it was absolutely her favorite gift. Every time I see her she tells me how much she loves it. The book comes with a full-color poster, which she hung on her wall and studies every night so she can tell me some new fact about crystals every time I see her. As if that wasn't enough, the book also comes with a CD of crystal and gem clip art, so she can make her own arts & crafts projects. Great value for the money.

The book is just beautifully illustrated with significant facts, however it is not too in depht. It did come with a large poster that can also be used as a visual aide and with a CD . It was fine for my ten year old daughter to do her research on crystals with, ( which is the reason why we bought it) but she had to find additional information in other books and the internet in order to get her research done. Overall everyone in the family did enjoy looking through its pages and learning the facts.

This book does not duplicate the information in the DK Eyewitness book Rocks and Minerals. The information deals specifically with valuable crystals and gems. This book is very easy to read and has excellent photographs. For a younger reader or a grownup who wants to learn visually without substantial text, this is great!

My 6 year old son loves these books - they are really fun for kids (and grown ups!). The pictures are lovely and high quality, and there is a ton of information in them. Highly recommend.

this is a book that I added in, the person I gave it to loves it. I is all marked up and full of paper clips so he can find what he is looking for. It came with a CD. There are pictures and such but so far I unable to do whatever I need to do to make is so he can see the pictures. I printed out the Read Me file that came with it and I am unable to located the file for the first step in the how to do it. We did figure out another way to look at the pictures. He is still happy. If you want the book this is a good by, it you want the DVD/CD you want to keep looking.

Very informative, well illustrated, scientifically researched, some important info about superstitions and crystals. My 12 year old granddaughter was reading this book with me and found it a good addition to her school science lessons.
