Tamilnet is the long-time propaganda arm of the Tamil Tigers and its gushing review of this book, quoted in the Amazon description, says it all. This book is an unbalanced view, much like Gordon Weiss's 'The Cage', more intent on a hack job and sales to devotees of an independent 'Eelam' than illuminating the complex causes and history of the Sri Lanka conflict. The Rajapakse regime was thuggish and grasping (and were booted out by Sri Lankans for those reasons) but there is absolutely no doubt that its single-minded and brilliantly executed campaign against a powerful foreign-funded terrorist group has saved thousands of lives in the island. A much better, although not exemplary, analysis can be had in Paul Moorcroft's book  Total Destruction of the Tamil Tigers: The Rare Victory of Sri Lanka's Long War , also available on Amazon. As Moorcroft says, the Sri Lankan campaign to destroy the Tamil Tigers may well be regarded by future historians as the blueprint to eliminate large scale terrorism. Unbeknownst, it seems, to most Westerners deluged by Tamilnet propaganda, the end of the Sri Lankan conflict saw over 300,000 Tamils taken as hostages (human shields) saved and looked after by the Sri Lankan Army, one of the greatest humanitarian interventions in history. Western politicians may talk about human rights but their grotesque adventures in Iraq, Libya, and Syria as well as the brutal conflict with ISIL make the Rajapakses look thoroughly benevolent in retrospect.

This book is a miracle of wonderfulness-a MUST READ for the USA State Department-and for Secretary Kerry-who happily employed Nilmini Gunaratna-Rubin-as his USA Senate staffer-a person who happily espoused wholesale-the neo-Nazi Sinhala fascist totalitarian agenda of Sri Lanka's totalitarian dictator Rajapakse and his merry-band-of-genocidal-brothers-in-office-in-Sri-Lank-since 2005. Sri Lanka's dictator Rajapakse has already promised he will continue being Sri Lanka's dictator even after the forthcoming January 8th, 2015 Sri Lanka [formerly Ceylon] Presidential Elections-regardless of voter choices.It's an astonishing experience to watch USA Homeland Security mindlessly making naturalized USA citizens out of the whole cloth of Sinhala-fascist-views-espousing-Sri-Lankans while holding up Eelam Tamils wishing to be naturalized since 1994. It appears that USA Homeland Security-not to mention other Amazon reviewers-are either unable or unwilling to make a clear-eyed distinction between fiercely opposing genocide [LTTE] and nakedly genocidal neo-Nazi Sinhala fascist Hitler-flavored-everyone-who-opposes-us-is-a-terrorist-Rajapakse regime-in totalitarian power in Sri Lanka since 2005-who ought to have been jailed in 2005 for perpetrating crimes against humanity.

Before I commence with my review I feel I should state that my knowledge of the Sri Lanka was limited. In 240 pages author succeeds in taking us through what happened in Sri Lanka. The strange thing is that it is almost unknown. People know so much more about Gaza and Bosnia but not about Sri Lanka. The lives of innocent 70,000 Tamils appear worth less than the lives of other humans in the world. Well written. Every page is a revelation. I whole-heartedly recommend this book to anyone interested of Sri Lanka.

A must read - Raw and compelling - A single death is a tragedy, a million deaths a statistic.Thank you Mr Grant for writing an incredible book! This is a difficult and painful book to read. Of course, reading about such terrible inhumanity does make one wonder about our species as a whole. Are we humans really this awful? Will anyone answer?

The writings by the author suggests he has no idea about Sri Lanka or its conflict or the war. He simply re write the mumbo jumbo he could gather from LTTE propaganda sites and write a book. The fact that there is no other book or anything worthy to his name speaks volumes about the integrity and the reliability of the author. It is a tragedy that in todays world terrorist networks can buy financially broke self styled journalists to write on such important topics for their agendas.One can buy this book as a financial support but nothing important. I will rather read Paul Moorcraft's book or war veteran Kamal Gunaratne's Road to Nandikadal.

LTTE is a terrorist organization banned in the USA and many other countries including UK and India. This is a propaganda by LTTE and Trevor Grant is in their payroll
