Very informative
We found this book to be very helpful when we spent a couple weeks in Yellowstone this past summer. We like to fish and this book was most helpful on where to go and gave some neat insights to check out while touring Yellowstone. Highly recommend.

Very good book for the Yellowstone fly fisherman. Maps are great.

Solid guide for the first time visitor to the park.
The book contains information most anglers will need to fish the various bodies of water in the park. Great maps, great tips, and excellent break downs on each stretch of water. Definitely something that will be kept in my pack when I'm on vacation in the park this summer.

Very Useful Book
I found the book to be very useful. I used it in conjunction with Yellowstone's official fishing guidelines that recommended specific lakes and streams for taking kids fishing within the park.

Needs a New Edition
This third edition, published in 2007, could benefit from a revision. The book is informative and contains good information on accessing Park waters, but needs updating. I appreciated the maps (especially the scale to determine distance!). This made locating and moving easy and with more than 100 waterways packed into this book, the maps are worthwhile. This book would also benefit from the inclusion of color photos, including specific flies. This lightweight paperback version is excellent in a pack and adds almost no weight. Good book, but needs just a little love.

The Best of the Genra
I have 5 Yellowstone fly fishing guide books. This one is almost certainly the BEST if you are looking for basic information of where to go; how to get there; and what to expect from each piece of water.

Excellent when time is limited
I had a fortnight at the start of August to fish an area that covered from Henry's Fork Idaho, North Yellowstone Park and the Gallatin (terrible isn't it) and really didn't want to spend $400 a day for a guide. A drought year meant soem of the planned rivers were out of order during my stay but with this guide on hand alternatives were readily available. This book really pointed where to go, or rather, where not to go and provided accurate information on the rivers, lakes and creeks and what hatches to expect. I had superb fishing throughout and really don't think a guide would have improved things dramatically. It also gave me a steer on what to tie before travelling so the flybox was fully loaded. I didn't do any real backcountry hiking but the guidance on necessary precautions was useful even when you stayed close to what little civilisation there is. If you are heading to Yellowstone to chuck fluff I would heartily recommend.
