After 15,000 miles of use, I'm still intrigued by a filter that will last a long time, perform well and that can be cleaned and reused.After receiving the item, hang it out in the wind for a day or two to get rid of the (slight) rubber smell. After that, the smell never comes back.I did my first cleaning at 15,000 miles. It looked slightly dirty but a lot of dirt and grime came out. I made my own mix of sodium perborate and club soda to clean it, then lightly misted on a mixture of 70/30 rubbing alcohol and mineral oil.For $35, this filter has already paid for itself. Rather than two $20 cheap quality paper filters that look filthy at 15,000 miles, this looks good after wash. If it lasts even another 15,000 miles, which is expected, it is a bargain.I appreciate the solid feel and frame of this K&N- far better than other flimsy replacements.UPDATE: Second cleaning at 30,000 miles, very dirty, took 3 washes but then mostly clean. Changed the homemade refresher mist to olive oil and added lime juice. Great clean smell, no chemicals. We'll see if it lasts.56,000 MILE UPDATE: Fourth cleaning; it was dirty after 11,000 miles from the last clean but washed up nicely with the sodium perborate / club soda mixture, sitting for 30 minutes in that. It may be necessary to clean these every 10,000 miles now. While not pristine clean, it's still pretty good, no major damage to the frame or filter material- looks like it will go another 10,000 miles easy. I like the initial smell of the homemade lime juice refresher instead of chemicals.FINAL UPDATE: I got about 90,000(!) miles out of this filter before replacing it with a new one.

I Can Definitely Tell The DifferenceI went all out and purchased the K & N air filter, K &N Cabin Filter, K & N oil filter and also the Liqui Moly Engine Flush along with Liqui Moly Fuel injection cleaning (All Purchased On Amazon) during my last oil change.I have a 2008 Lexus GS 460 (115k miles & a SC430 81k miles) and I did the same treatment on the both of them and they both run like brand new cars.The SC 430 i took it to a local shop so that they could do a pre-purchase inspection because my personal mechanic wasn't available and was on a time crunch because i was buying the SC from a wholesale dealer which costed me $200 and they recommended all of these preventive maintenance plans to me and was going to charge me an additional $700 to do them. Me being nosey i asked alot of questions and the guy explained to me that they use top notch products and he showed me what they were going to use. I immediately logged on to Amazon and found all of the products and purchased them myself for less than $115 and took my car to my personal mechanic and had these services done for $75 including my oil change. I also purchased my own oil (Mobil 1) which costed me another $75 for each car.

Been a fan of K&N for all filter needs for 20+ years. Highly recommend. Great value. High quality product with company who stands behind it.

It was immediately apparent that there was more air flow, and as a bonus, the cabin was quieter as well.A permanent (washable) filter as well, what's not to like?

Before I get into the product, ensure you go to the K&N website directly to confirm compatibility as this model doesn’t fit all vehicles listed. What I received didn’t match the description, I returned this and bought the correct filter locally.Pros:-Improved air flow/quality-Reusable, durable-Reduced dust accumulation-Improved A/C function (dirty filters damage/stress AC system components and cause them to fail)Cons:-Rubber smell from new filter, I didn’t notice it after a few hours of running AC. If you’re sensitive to smells this could probably be addressed by leaving it to air out for a few hours before installing.-Takes a moderate amount of effort to effectively clean. Can be cleaned by soaking in baking soda solution if you don’t want to purchase cleaning kitWill update at my next 10k service interval.

GREAT REPLACEMENT FOR REGULAR FILTERS. ONE TIME PURCHASE PLUS PRICE IS THE SAME AS OEM FILTERS (THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED EVERY 5-10 THOUSANDS MILES)

Installed to replace my old non-useable filter. Had the rubbery smell like everyone mentioned, but didn't bother me. Installed in my 2013 toyota camry without issue.
