How to Resist Temptation

I thank God for this book
Before buying this, I read a review that said "Satan hates this book." After reading the book, I couldn't agree more.In the past, I have attempted to read other spiritual classics on this theme, but I have trouble digesting dense spiritual books from centuries ago and applying them to ordinary modern life. As a result, I never finish reading them, and they sit on my book shelf. Not so with "How to Resist Temptation." I read this book intently from beginning to end. Fr. Remler systematically breaks down what temptations are, what there causes are, and then how to handle them in a simple, understandable way for any modern reader. My approach to vice will never be the same, and I thank God for the privilege of reading this book.

Great Book
My favorite part of this book was where it was talking about virtue is the result of resisted temptations. It’s up to us to resist.

A pivotal book in the spiritual life of a Catholic.
One of the most important books I've ever read. Very much in the spirit of St. Alphonsus, it made me to realize the true nature of temptation, occasions of sin and the holy sacrament of Confession.

Quick and to the point
This book doesn't mess around. It has a clear thesis and explains everything it says it will. It describes what temptation is and how to master it and control your passions. It is very strict and the author clearly doesn't care that the ideas put forth are considered by modern standards "hard to follow." It helped me immeasurably.

This is an excellent book on the subject of temptation.
Because the book was recommended in "Clean of Heart" by Rosemarie Scott and is an excellent tool by Fr. Remler to help a person overcome temptation and achieve the victory.

Good book
Books on specific spiritual areas can be great reading (e.g., books on forgiveness, the theology of Jesus...). In this case, Fr. Remler's book provides good understanding of how we're tempted, why we're tempted... and is the kind of book that can be read again every couple or three years.

Not a good idea, according to this author
Does not pull punches. Do you think there's no harm in contemplating evil as long as you don't do it? Not a good idea, according to this author. This is just what you need to read.

A great book.
I can not recomend this book highly enough.Although this book was published in 1938 (as Why I am Tempted?)its core message and guidance is timeless.Fr Remler was indeed a good and holy man.We all can learn much from his writings.Anyone suffering under the strain of temptation will benefit from his plain but wise advice as to how to resist it.
