Qigong Empowerment: A Guide to Medical, Taoist, Buddhist and Wushu Energy Cultivation

I have owned this book since 2002. It one one of a few books on Qigong I have and read. After so many years of working with Qigong and more than a single school I still read this book every few years. Now I am practicing Dayan Qigong otherwise known as Wild Goose. Which is one of the oldest family schools of Qigong. I find correlation in this book to some moves in Dayan. Much of the breathing exercises are known in other schools not just Qigong. But this book is a good overview and some clear and easy moves with great explanation on what Qigong is and can do for you. If your looking for information or indepth on one style this is not the book. In that case look for a teacher in that school trained in that style. This is a good start and refresher on breathing and meditation moves and introduction to a few common styles. It does explain the 3 families of Qigong well martial, medical and spiritual. Good book to start and help your initial search into Qigong. It will give you direction to go further plus give the basics till then.

Great book, comprehensive and step by step outline. But really irritating use of channel abbreviations that seem arbitrary. IC for LI, IV for SI... Then standard PC for pericardium... I haven't read cover to cover but no explanation seems to be present, just the channel in English and an abbreviation.

This is one of the most comprehensive description of the basics from several esoteric traditional methodologies of discipline for obtaining spiritual awakening, on your own you may gain experience with this but would like to encourage you to seek out a teacher if possible as the deeper you go the more danger there is.

This book explains a lot of training methods for both beginners and advanced. The weak point of this book is that it doesn't give enough information and preparation practice for many of the training methods and neither tells the purpose of these practices, which is indispensable for the training to be efficient and useful. For example the small circulation (or microcosmic circulation) requires numerous of preceding knowledge and training, including profound understanding and practice of embryonic breathing, which requires that you are able to feel both upper and lower dan tians, and the general feeling of chi in your body. Also before embryonic breathing you need to practice profoundly both normal abdominal breathing and reverse abdominal breathing to get the fundamentals right. And the Grand circulation (or Macrocosmic circulation) which is explained right after the microcosmic, comes only after several months or years of small circulation practice. Which would have been good to mention. In other words, this is more of a practice encyclopedia than a manual.So unless you are advanced in the practice of qigong (meaning, able to feel and control the energy flows of your body), I wouldn't recommend this book. For those in searching for the inmanent, spirit guides our every step. Allthough we look and aim towards trascendence, this life is beautiful and full of treasures. Speaking as a person that was guided towards this book, I'm certain the energy of the legacies that have shared this techniques is the same , and they all drink from the same water. Go and attain great wisdom, tread on the path of inmortals!

They can lead to demonic possession and all kinds of illness. I researched different religions leaving the Holy Bible for last because I thought Christians were hypocritical with all their gossip and ways. The problem was I wasn't looking at Jesus the Messiah, I was looking at His people in my own self-righteousness. Back to this book and others like it...I began to take on the practices in this book and opened my self up to demons. The Lord Jesus warned me in dreams to stop reading this and He even sent people in real life to warn me and get me to read the Holy Bible. I had a dream where I was falling into a bottomless pit (which is mentioned in the Bible). The Lord warned me with another dream of me being lowered into the Lake of Fire (where there is eternal torment). Had I known better from the start, I would have never gotten into this. God Himself condemns divination, witchcraft, sorcery, and any other spiritual practice that is not of Him. There is a eternal price to pay for rebellion against Him. In fact, right now He holds your very breath in His hands. I am warning you. Stay away from this. It allows unclean spirits to live in you and that's what give you your power. It ultimately comes from Satan (the Devil). If I could show you how many times the Devil and his demons have tried to attack me for knowing the truth about God, you'd be shocked. But God has protected me and shown me that His word (Holy Bible) is the truth. God does not lie. But the serpent, the Devil is the father of lies and the Great Deceiver. Stay away and learn about the God who made you for a personal relationship with Him. This is a first class reference book and guide to 5 styles of Qigong. it is well written with photos and useful diagrams showing all the energy points and channels connections between them. As a student of Qigong for over 22 years I find this book extremely useful.It is a good idea to read the forwards preface and first couple of chapters before dipping into the book.

Excellent in depth description of qigong from different perspectives. With respect perhaps not best suited for absolute beginners. Highly recommended though
