Hell money is a form of joss paper printed to resemble legal tender bank notes. This faux money has been in use since at least the late 19th century and possibly much earlier. Early 20th century examples took the resemblance of minor commercial currency of the type issued by businesses across China until the mid-1940s. The notes are not an officially recognized currency or legal tender since their sole intended purpose is to be offered as burnt-offerings to the deceased as often practiced by the Chinese and several East Asian cultures. The identification of this type of joss paper as "hell bank notes" or "hell money" and singling them out is largely a western phenomenon, since these items are simply regarded as yet another form of joss paper in East Asian cultures and have no special name or status.

I got my pkg very quickly & felt the presence of my ancestors very strongly all day! When I lit a few for them, it felt like a heavy weight had been lifted off of my shoulders! I told my ancestors to splurge like they won the lottery jackpot bc they deserve to be happy & comfortable on the other side! Oh yeah, who else saw the green flames of the jade emperor while burning them?! Meeee!!! LOL!! Love my ancestors!!

Bigger than I was expecting but I love it !
These came fast and a lot bigger than I was expecting. One came with a small tear inside but the rest were done and they burn perfectly! They burn fast and don’t give off a lot of smoke. LOVE IT!!!

Ok first off my measurements were way off because these sheets of ancestor money are huge but I really like them. The money arrived on time and it was wrapped neatly. I'm super excited because it's definitely worthwhile every penny. Unfortunately there's no gold foil but I'm okay with that. I'll definitely purchase again and I'll even purchase same size because it is the coolest thing every.

Couldn't find these nowhere in Chinatown.... only found the lesser dollar amounts. Came earlier than stated. Can't wait to pray over it and give to my ancestors. 😉

Arrived on time. 2 of the papers feel glossy not sure if its A good idea to burn it. however the rest of the Papers was not good quality, feels like regular paper on one side n rough on the inner side..Printing on it had bled through both front n back.. Smells like rubbing alcohol and chemical scent on it.. I hope it still works for my Ancestor Alter.. Plus its much smaller then the previous purchase

I loved what the money looked like and I was so excited to burn this hell note for my ancestors. It wouldn't burn and that is a big disappointment. That was the main reason I wanted the money. I used matches, lighters and numerous other things to try to burn it and it wouldn't burn at all.
