Did the job. Getting the new barbs back into the hoses is a pain but when used with a pair of decent pliers, or a vice, the clamp makes it much easier.As someone who is fairly adolescent to bicycle mechanics and apprehensive about fiddling with the powerful hydro brakes of modern MTB and ruining them, I found the job to be relatively pain-free. A cheat bleed and a few taps on the hoses had my SLX's feeling good as new.•Mask off the pads and remove the wheels before trimming - the fluid can and will get everywhere even if you're careful•Cable tie some kitchen roll around a section of hose lower than where you will trim to stop any accidental dribbles reaching the calipers.

Not much to say, this kit did the trick with the help of some mole grips, a tooth pick and a hammer to finalise the job. Probably could've done without the spanners (pretty common thing to have) but instead could do with more olives and barbs. And I'm pushing it here but also perhaps a plastic pin/fin punch to open up the hole after cutting the hose as it tends to collapse with the pressure of the cut.

Had to reroute a rear brake hose when building a new bike. This kit came in handy the cutter especially to finish the brake hose with a clean edge ready to be refitted into the brake lever housing.

The are useful but i noticed the olives are not identical to shimano. The tools are ok and useful if you dont have the small spanners alreadyI had an experience where the olive came lose so next time i decided to use original shimanos to ensure 100 % correct fit. It may not be the olive but it is the only time i have had issues with leak hose and fit.

Kit cam with all you need to shorten your hydraulic hoses and it's a quality kit. To complete the job you'll need a bleed kit and/or suitable hydraulic fluid (Shimano mineral oil) and you'll be up and running in no time,
