Got the used one
I ordered the used one because of price was cheaper and some of the reviews said that the size was off for what u needed.. I’m not complaining at all but I got the used one and one that had a tag like brand new. So if I only got the used one what the reviews say are correct the the collar was big and I have a black lab. I originally got it for my pitbull and it was big on him as well . The part that comes together is loose when not using and just hangs weirdly. It really needs something to lock it place some how .. It was so loose on my pitbull that I’m afraid it will come off his neck even with the part that’s supposed to come up and come against his neck. With that being said the collar that came with the tag fits my pitbull better and seems to do what I needed it for. So I’m worried that overtime It will get loose and will do what the used collar is doing .

Medium 1" fits 6 mo. old Boxer/Lab
My pup is 44 lbs. and where the size L-1" was huge, M-1" fits with 3" extra to grow into. The red collar material seems stiff at first but gets pliable/soft quickly which is good because there is no way to get the collar on and off except over the head. There is a little black plastic piece to affix, i.d., rabies and dog license tags so the metal loop is for the leash clip exclusively. It is a good collar for the approx. $6 cost.

Great collar, just a little hard to pinch clasp to remove it.
Great little collar- the only issue I have is it’s a bit difficult to pinch the clasp to remove the collar. I do t Lea e the collar on the dogs when we come inside because they play constantly and I don’t want them choking each other accidentally. I live in an apartment so o take my digs out at least four times a day- usually more. On walks I put their harness on. I only put the collar on to take them outside quick to potty. It might not be ideal for us since I remove the collar and out it back i on multiple times a day. Another reason I don’t leave their collars on is because their dog tags jingle. But, it’s a good little collar other than it hurts my fingers every time I have to squeeze the clasp together on either side at the same tine. But, then again, I do have e psoriatic arthritis and so my fingers are more sensitive and painful anyway.

It is also the kind of collar they recommend in their adoption materials
When I fostered my chow chow in early April 2014, this was the kind of collar the rescue group had put on her. It is also the kind of collar they recommend in their adoption materials. So, when I adopted her in May 2014 I bought this collar for her. It's perfect for her.I like that the collar is adjustable so that she's never really choked by the collar. The collar tightens, but it only tightens until the square metal rings meet. This is different from most other choke collars that have nothing to stop them from choking as tightly as possible. This is a far more humane collar. My dog doesn't really pull on walks except when she smells something really exciting and she heels really well. I like that the collar is loose on her neck most of the time. I think it keeps her more relaxed on our walks. In fact, when I give her the slightest direction on the lead, she feels it and follows along. I have as much control over her movements as I do with a horse using its reins, and just as subtly. You wouldn't think that with a looser collar this would be true, but it is. Of course, all dogs are different.Another thing that makes this collar perfect for me and my dog is that I can use the loop as a short "handle" to help direct her when we're inside. She's totally blind, and she sometimes finds herself in a corner and can't find her way out. I only have to grab the loop and gently direct her in the right direction. Very helpful!I've hung her tags from one of the square metal rings. They're just fine there. In fact, better than fine. Since she's a chow, she has long hair. The tags are noticeable because they hang longer than they would on a tighter fitting collar. If she ever gets out of the house unattended, someone will be able to see all her information. I like that.Speaking of her hair, the collar doesn't seem to rub or break her hair off. I don't know if this is due to the material the collar is made of, or the fact that it's an inch wide, but I'm grateful. She's only worn this particular collar for 3 months now, but it's held up well. We've been caught in a rainstorm, and it dried out overnight. I've hand washed it in the sink with Dawn dishwashing liquid, and it looks like new. And with the matching lead, she looks like a princess! When this collar wears out, I'll replace it with another one just like it. Five stars.

Tested it for myself despite the negative reviews
I bought this collar for our newly adopted dog. We had an incident where she slipped out the back door and took off running while my boyfriend was taking out the trash. Ever since then, I’ve been worried that we’d lose her if she ever managed to get out of her standard breakaway collar. This gives me some peace of mind. It serves as an option for when she just needs to be let outside quickly and we don’t want to go through the hassle of putting on her harness. It really wasn’t that difficult to figure out. I think some people may be exaggerating that part a little bit. I put her on the leash and tested out the collar in my house before I ever took her out. It worked as it should. I also haven’t had any issues with it loosening up on her. I left it as it was out of the package, slipped it over her head, used the 2-finger rule to make sure it wasn’t too tight, and it’s stayed the same since. The collar is true to size. My dog is a medium-sized dog. Most medium-sized things fit her without much adjustment. This collar was no different. My conclusion in testing out this product for myself is that people are unfamiliar with this type of collar, putting it on wrong, and assuming it’s a faulty product. Complaints about there being no buckle or being too wide or whatever are invalid. If you want a collar with a buckle, get a collar with a buckle. If you want a more narrow collar, don’t buy one that says it’s an inch wide. Don’t buy this product and leave a bad review because you didn’t use common sense. If you want a simple martingale collar that does the job, give this one a go. It worked for me.

Very Good
I delayed writing a review on this product until it had been in use for a few days. This item is far superior to other Martingale Collars that have a chain link connector. My one year old (puppy?) cross Spanish Mastin (weighs now at 80 lbs) snapped the chain easily after seeing our neighbours cat ! I am very pleased to say that this collar without any chain links added does the job of being a teaching/learning aid very well and without causing any undue discomfort to our dog. In the few days that he has been wearing it he is now much more controllable and just a small (one finger pressure) on the restraining link reminds him what he has to do when walking to heel. I can thoroughly recommend this items has a humane way of teaching your pet how he/she is expected to behave.

An excellent Martingale collar for our Podenco Andaluz
We put this collar on our Podenco the day she arrived from the rescue shelter about 6 months ago, and it has not been off her since. It still looks as good as new with no wear to show what-so-ever. It is rarely used as a collar for walking because our dog is incredibly nervous so she requires a three-point harness for walking. That said, I think this collar is durable anyway. I guess that it is very comfortable for her to wear. She has never scratched at it, or attemped to claw at it. There is absolutely no rubbing underneath either, so no rash or fur problems at all. I highly recommend this Martingal collar by PetSafe.

Martingale dog collar
I have used other training collars, gentle leader, halti etc and found that my rescue dog hated them. This collar is very dog friendly and does not cause any discomfort or pain to the dog, if correctly adjusted. It is also virtually escape proof.Within a very short time I have got my dog walking nicely at my side which has made the walk enjoyable for us both.

I think it’s a dangerous collar unless you are watching your dog 24/7
No I can’t let him wear the collar anymore as he gets his bottom jaw stuck in the small loop and because there is no quick unfasten clip it was a difficult mission trying to get his jaw out of the loop and take the Collar off
