Freaked out and Small: The Presidents of the United States of America Paperback – 1 May 2001

Fantastic latest album by the guys with two string one string & no string guitars, quirky pop/rock songs for the road (with nods to Star Wars etc) love them live & love the album, if your a fan, what you waiting for?

PUSA as I remember them.

Great to see PUSA experimenting, a treat for all fans.

i felt really lucky to find this and was thrilled the moment i put it on, having heard the other 4 pusa albums first i can seriously say this is some of their best work. tigerbomb is a cool love song and the demo version gives it an extra twist.my favourite tracks are jazz guy, Jupiter, blank baby and death star. "you were there greatest weapon ever manufactured.if you love what pusa have don in the past and recently, you will love this album as it has some of their greatest work on it. 5 peaches out of five

This album is like the rest of the presidents albums....superb. It's got the same PUSA style as before although they do now play full instruments. All songs are above average, but songs like Jupiter, Tiny Explosions, Tiger Bomb, Nuthin But Luv, Death Star, Superstar, Meanwhile Back in The City, Blank Baby, all stand out, (thats most of the songs). This album gets better and closer to perfect with every listen. If you like PUSA you'll love it.

Einfach grossartig, unglaublich intelligent und erquickend sind nur worte die diese CD ein bisschen beschreiben und doch irgendwie nicht 100% treffend sind, denn was die wundervollen Presidents hier abgeliefert haben entzieht sich jeder kategoriesierung der Musikwelt. Diesmal haben sie zum ersten Mal die Gitarren vollbesaitet und nutzen die Gesamtpalette an Melodik, die Stimmen (wie immer) absolut ausgewogen, total inspirierend und über die Lyrik braucht man garnicht diskutieren, denn die sind allesamt genial und doch nicht überheblich oder zu "geschminkt". Es ist einfach Rock n' Roll im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes denn man zu jeder Zeit geniessen kann, zu Kaffee und Kuchen oder zu einem kalten Bierchen (oder zwei). Da bleibt nur eines zu sagen: THE PRESIDENTS FOR PRESIDENTS !!! Die Welt wäre sicherlich ein wenig besser.

This disk takes the Presidents to the extreme! Everything that make the Presidents the Presidents (the quirky lyrics, the simple and energetic beat, the blasting wall of sound, and most of all the whimsy) is exagerated as much as possible. Who else could write an ode to the Death Star which includes the phrase "so good they built it twice"?You may think you have the disk on repeat, because the first half is the finished songs, and the second half is most of the same songs over again, in demo versions. This may be a little much -- the polished versions are all better than the demo versions. There's a reason why demos don't usually get released.However, even if they hadn't included the demos this disk would be well worth buying. It's almost impossible not to dance to. It's also better than the recent comeback album. This was the Presidents at their peak -- at least, at their peak in the first go-around.

Das Album ist grandios!

Instead of having lofty social goals like REM or U2, the Presidents just want everyone to have fun, and their music shows it!In my opinion, they are the best band of the 90's. They have great rock songs, and they're alternative enough to be different while not alienating anyone by being too weird.This CD, their best one, has a lot more peppy rock songs then the others, and it's hard to listen to it without the volume all the way up. They have some good slow songs, too, like Tiger Bomb, which is perhaps their second best song (under Peaches, of course)Even if you haven't heard of the band, this is a fantastic CD, and one that anyone looking for some feel-good, high energy rock will absolutely love.

I've never actually seen this album in stores, but I needed it to polish off my collection. It's definitely worth getting for any Presidents fan. It's certainly not their best work, but it's still a lot of fun.
