BUNN 6GAL21X9 Commercial Coffee Filters, 6 Gallon Urn Style (Case of 250)

These are fun. I wanted to see what six gallon filters looked like, so I bought them. They are made of nice, thick, fleecy paper. I just cut them in quarters and use them in my Melitta cone. They work fine.

Took care of my needs.

Perfect for separating whey from dairy products or thickening yogurt to make Greek yogurt. These are huge and fit whatever giant colander I can find. I was worried they would be too big but so far I have appreciated having a little extra space rather than not enough. They will eventually tear as expected but they are not at all flimsy. Actually they are thicker than I expected but I still double up just in case. Now I have a lifetime supply so I don’t mind using a couple.

The carton was torn and although the filters were in a plastic bag the bag was not sealed or tied.

Just what I needed

Perfect for yogurt making. This size comfortably fits a gallon of unstrained yogurt. I will never go back to cheese cloth or a mesh strainer again after using these. They strain perfectly evenly and finely, so there are no yogurt solids lost, and they make cleanup FAR easier (seconds instead of 15 minutes). This is enough filters for several years of yogurt making for me, so although the upfront price is higher than a small bag of cheese cloth, these filters actually end up being far less expensive in the long run.You MIGHT be able to get away with the size of filter that's for a smaller coffee machine (the 3-gallon Bunn filters) for a gallon of unfiltered yogurt, I haven't tried those. Supposedly the 1.5-gallon Bunn filters are the right size for straining 1/2 gallon of unfiltered yogurt, but I always do a gallon so I haven't tried those either.

The large size coffee filters arrived today. I needed them for filtering yogurt. They are definitely large enough for a gallon of yogurt. I got the 250 quantity, and I'm glad I didn't get the 500 quantity! The box was bigger than I expected, but the contents had NO extra "dead space" inside. Overall, I'm delighted with my purchase. The shipping was quick, and the packaging was fine. Once I go through these, I will definitely reorder.

I bought these for straining yogurt. They work well, as long as you don't manipulate/lift too much while straining, because they will start to tear under the weight after several times. After using them a couple times I've got it down.
